I didn't mention this in the video, but if you want your frosted glass to be a little less brittle, then lightly spray a coat of glaze/varnish on your pieces. Congratulations and I hope you and your spouse will have a happy life together. :)

Beautiful diys !!!!! Can u use regular table salt instead of Epsom salt???
@TheFuzzyDragon18 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can use regular salt, but the effect won't be the same. You won't have as much texture. You have to put a generous amount or it will melt. :)

The decorations you created are beautiful. Have you tried coloring the epsom salt? Would food coloring or acrylic paint dissolve the epsom salt. Maybe powdered Rit dye. I will have to try your technique.
@TheFuzzyDragon18 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliment. I have tried coloring plain table salt before with a few drops of food coloring and it works well, so I'm sure epson salt should work too. You just have to spread the salt flat afterwards to let it dry. Have fun! :)
@SophieMia8066 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I was wondering that question, too, about coloring the epsom salt. This is my first time seeing your videos, and I like how you brushed off the excess salt, leaving a more frosted look. I also like how you showed fhe different textures and finishes with the extra layer of salt and mod podge. Thank you. 😊

can i do it with regular salt that we eat ?.....
@TheFuzzyDragon18 жыл бұрын
I've never tried it with regular salt. I would imagine it to be very fine and it would devolve faster, but I'm sure it would have some other kind of frosted effect. It wouldn't look as crystallized as the bath salt. I think it's worth trying. :)

Beautiful....but the thing with Epsom salt is that it will break down, was wondering if a sealer would work and what kind of sealer would be best
@TheFuzzyDragon16 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The best way to seal these would be to use a spray on type of varnish or glaze. :)
@singerAR04066 жыл бұрын
I saw another crafter do this and she used white rain hairspray...
@SophieMia8066 жыл бұрын
@@singerAR0406 ...I've seen people on youtube use hair spray to "seal" their projects. But I always wonder if it makes the finished piece "tacky". I'm thinking of how my hair used to feel if I used too much hair spray. And if it got wet by accident, wouldn't that make it gummy? I don't know. I've never tried it with crafting, but that's what I picture in my mind. I would personally probably prefer to use an actual sealer, that is designed for crafting.
@TheFuzzyDragon16 жыл бұрын
@SophieMia806 I've never tried it, but in my opinion sealer has a better hold.

Instead of using gloss spray to make it more permanent, could you just coat it again when it's all done with another layer of mod podge?
@TheFuzzyDragon17 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, if you brush it delicately, but in my opinion, I find gloss spray holds it much better. :)
@DavidMcmenemy7 жыл бұрын
Great, thanks. :)
@DavidMcmenemy7 жыл бұрын
Also how did you get the Epsom salt to remain steady in the base of the jar in the centrepiece towards the end of the video? Is that just Epsom salt mixed together with mod podge so the salt stays steady?
@TheFuzzyDragon17 жыл бұрын
I just filled the jar with epson salt and pored mod podge over it and let in penetrate through so that it's a little bit sturdier. But you can poke the branches into styrofoam and cover it with epson salt as well. I just used what I had available at the time.
