@@CardinalOffroad already the 3/4 and 5/8 same thread size?

Did you buy the kit from TMR? or did you source the tubing separate? I'm going for the cheapest route!!
@CardinalOffroad3 жыл бұрын
It’s artec and yes I got the kit with tubing but if I did it again I’d but the heims abs getting tubing from a local metal shop. It would be way cheaper and less waisted metal.
@tomynoks3 жыл бұрын
either way, what are good lengths to buy? I don't want to waste much of course..LOL
@CardinalOffroad3 жыл бұрын
You’ll need to measure what you need. I’d do all that before getting tubing. Some will buy pvc to mock up their arms then get the tubing.
@noacrescencio1247 Жыл бұрын
Plan on doing this but on A-arm rack. I’m a little confused about the left hand thread and right hand thread. You have any advice on which side to use which threading? Appreciate the video
@CardinalOffroad Жыл бұрын
So if it’s a a arm setup which is independent suspension you’ll have 2 tie rods. So each tie rod needs a left and right handed thread. This is so when installed you can adjust the lengthy twisting the tie rod
@noacrescencio1247 Жыл бұрын
@@CardinalOffroad perfect. Also you have any idea whether or not the steering rack has to be straight or turned to one side or to the other when determining the length of tube?
@CardinalOffroad Жыл бұрын
@@noacrescencio1247 I’m not sure on independent suspension but a good way to do it is get your heim joint and build it with PVC pipe til you get the correct length. The joint will slide into the pvc like DOM tubing

@@CardinalOffroad yea I got the heims on the way now so will get those on then measure it all up and hopefully it’s all right 👍

@@noacrescencio1247 yeah pvc is cheap and when you do go to use DOM I’d tac it til you’re 100 percent sure
@jamesbeck75054 жыл бұрын
what did you do for your drag link is there a video on that?
@CardinalOffroad4 жыл бұрын
James Beck it is the same as the tie rod as far as how to build it. The rule of thumb is to have your drag link and Panhard bar as close to the same length and angle. This will prevent bump steer.

What diff cover is that? You got some great videos man appreciate all the info
@CardinalOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Jared Coleman that’s a tmr low pro diff cover. Gets you more clearance from the tie rod. And thanks a lot I appreciate it. Did you check out our other videos yet?
@jaredcoleman42485 жыл бұрын
I checked out some of the videos mostly just the ones pertaining to the front axle, I’m under construction right now putting my Squarebody on SuperDuty axles, you mentioned in your high steer video to test the metal with a grinder I haven’t yet but are some of the knuckles cast??
@jaredcoleman42485 жыл бұрын
And again thank you for your time
@CardinalOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Jared Coleman yes so the knuckles should be cast steel and the easiest way to tell is hit them with a grinder and the sparks should be a yellowish color. Heat your cast to 400 and weld it up then hit with heat again and cool slowly. Hope this helps.

Great vids, now that I've seen this I'm going to fabricate my own tie rod and drag link, one question I have though, is how can I make the heim joints work with the stock knuckle holes?? I've got a brand new 2020 Rubicon. Thanks. Oh one last thing, our steering knuckles are aluminum. Thanks again
@CardinalOffroad4 жыл бұрын
Will Hoff thanks! So I can’t remember what size holes those ate but all you’ll do is get one that’s the same size. I wouldn’t want to drill out the hole much due to making it weaker. But depending on what size hole you have when you call to order your heims you’ll want to tell them what size it is. Also I would run new hardware as sometimes the old bolts have been worn down. They make different thickness misalignment spacers too so depending on your current set up to may be able to get a similar heim the same thickness. Also I have a video on making a drag link and a video on a safety misalignment spacer which you’ll want to watch so you get the right stuff for your drag link heim. Be sure to use LH and RH threads on each to make adjusting easy.

@@CardinalOffroad thanks, I will definitely check out you're other vids. So if I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying get inserts for the steering knuckle to make the hole uniform in size?? This way I can run a bolt through it and the heim joint? Thanks
@CardinalOffroad4 жыл бұрын
Will Hoff so what I’m saying is how your drag link and tie rod currently hook up is with a ballpoint type set up. So you have the joint going through the knuckle then a castle but I’m the other side. The pitman arm is simple and you will see that in my drag link and safety misalignment spacer video. Now as for your knuckles they will have a slight taper to them if I’m not mistaken. This is how the dana 60 is that I have. What I would do is figure out the large part of the holes size and drill it out to that size. I think they even make a kit with a sleeve you put in there. By doing this you now have a hole that is the same size all the way through. I would contact TMR or Ruff stuff, I would think one of them would have a kit.
