Any kind of clear sealant is definitely needed here.. there are clear cement sealant that should work well.. definitely talk to your contractor

I don’t understand the purpose of that shelf. Since all that was placed on it was a candle, I think that underscores the shelf’s impracticality. It’s a strange location for a candle. The shelf isn’t big enough for packages and anyway there’s the bench for this purpose. One might need a place to set packages or bags when entering or leaving a place so having a shelf makes sense. But this particular shelf is too small to function for this purpose. It’s acceptable even welcome to have decorations in the entryway especially for a design business. You would want to set the tone and give clients an idea of what to expect from your services. But, one that shelf is going to compete with anything you place on it and two, it isn’t particularly useful. That shelf is better left empty so it’s beauty can be appreciated. You could set keys on it temporarily. Come to think of it, I’ve been assuming she planned to have clients in this studio. But I don’t think I’ve ever heard this. And if she doesn’t plan on having clients round the entry way makes a lot more sense. Most of the interior designers I have known either met clients in the client’s own space or took clients on a tour of their design work. Usually interior designers’ actual work spaces are a mess with teetering piles of fabric swatches and mock ups of former jobs tucked wherever they fit. But most of those design firms were very small and it was way before KZbin existed.

I love that the entryway sets the tone for the whole space. But I do not love the idea of wet winter boots on that floor under the bench. Maybe add a mat or a waterproof sort of container? got to be practical, as well as cute.

I love this. I would agree with other viewers, that the rug feels too small for that space and I would definitely put something under the bench to set your dirty/wet shoes on. You do great work. Congrats on your new space!

Don't get me wrong, I really like it. It just doesn't seem functional for a work environment. I mean, for a rain or snow day, you'll definitely need a bigger rug. I wonder if she knows Ikea has the Ivar lockers.

The vibe of you talking through the makeover on the new couch was so different than what you usually do. But in the best way possible!! You seemed not so over the top acting exited and smiling. Much rather you seemed more relaxed and in the zone and honestly more genuine and you could tell your extiement was real! About paint color: remember that Home Depot can examine a color sample and mix that color for you. I took them an a green chicken egg from an Arcana chicken-and they made me the exact color paint! It was wonderful.

Btw you can use acrylic craft paints as pigment tint, for example your mixture plus a teaspoon of red craft paint would’ve given you a soft blush!

I love watching these videos, but I also find them frustrating sometimes. The color mixing portion of this video was kind of hard to watch. But my larger issue is the fact that good interior design needs to be beautiful AND functional, and while this is very pretty, it won't function for an office. Especially during Canada winters, having 4-5 people coming in with large coats, boots, hats/scarves/gloves, bags, etc. is going to make this whole studio look junky because everything will end up piled everywhere. Also, in any case where floors are going to be painted (especially a light color) you NEED to do some sort of sealant so that you can actually clean the floors. Or just do some sort of epoxy skim coat which would be even more durable.

I’m really enjoying the transformations. I think that after experiencing the Toronto winter and winter boots you may have a “winter version” of your entryway carpet. (Or maybe have the winter rug at the door before you enter so you can “stomp and shake” the snow off). Can you tell I grew up in Montreal 😂😂

I think the door opens to a hall and not the outside, so they'd have already gotten the snow off their boots. But I'm in Florida, so I don't know what it's actually like to live in a cold climate.
