I want to see a tracked vehicle with hydraulic differential steering. Use a pair of similiar diffs from independent suspension rwd cars, put them side to side and use them as planetary gearsets by turning inner flanges in opposite directions using hydraulic motors. So the moving power comes in equally on both diffs and goes out equally from outer flanges, unless speed differential is being put on the inner flanges. With a proportional valve (from a power steering?) it should make a smooth steering vehicle. Only minor problem is that steering works wrong ways when reversing. 4/2 valve on reverse light switch will undo that. Maybe it is necessary to put better bearings in the differentials satellite gears, casings fully filled with oil with separate reservoir etc.

Have no such facilities to do something that size, even if it fits a light trailer. A little tank for children would be nice to do. Something like a overshooted cartoon version of a T-34. Maybe using atv engine-gearbox, with reverse possibility.

I cut out the center of the front wheels on a tractor one time and welded the in a set of ford truck rims cause i wanted something wider and that was cheaper and easier to find find when replacing tires.. I really like this dudes style. He takes scrap metal and what other people would consider junk and repurposes it into cool useful stuff. He is quite the engineer as well... He has WAAAY better tools to work with in his shop then i do though. 😞

By far, you are one of the most dedicated and resourceful builders on YouTUbe. Flipping an old rusty wheel hub is way too much work. One is too much, but add three more would be cause for a pause and redesign. When you spun the tire, it showed no wobble at all it made me go Wow! That's amazing, now if all four are like that. 🤔

now you just need a stand to put the wheel and tire on, with a post up through the center for swinging your tire spoon around. I have one I can bolt to my workshop floor, and a tire spoon I lengthened quite a bit to give me lots of leverage. not as nice as an automatic tire machine, but I only change a couple tires per year at most...

this is essentially the same way i do it, just good tire irons and muscle and determination, i like your bead buster method, that's an improvement over mine, i will try and emulate yours. i would have soaped up the beads though, during mounting, and especially when blowing the beads out. i find it helps them get all the way out more evenly and easily. thx, Will

This gave me an idea to simply ratchet strap a bead breaker to a tree, instantly adjustable height no solid mounting needed. I was going to build something akin to one of those modified harbor freight tyre machines but only wanted to cement a square pipe in the ground flush with my driveway, the problem would have been how to stop it lifting when using the bead breaking attachment, now i can just make the bead breaker to strap to a tree and continue with my plan to mount the square tube in the ground to fit the manual tyre machine into.

Turning that steel wheel into a beadlock would help you in a couple of ways. Easier to mount or dismount the tires 100%. Running a beadlock you can air down those tires to 3 or 4 lbs and not have to worry about breaking the bead and having the tire go flat instantly. There are companies out there that make the mounting flanges. All you need to do is weld them all together. If you have access to a CNC Plasma, you are golden. All you need is some plate steel. I think they are usually 1/4 inch thick, and a whole lot of nuts and bolts and a million washers. Either way, making your own beadlock wheels are quite simple if you have some welding skill. Yes. Your welds have to be good enough to hold air. I've made a few sets now. It's not that difficult. You could actually design your own and use a company like "Send Cut Send" to make all your plates. If you are an avid off roader, rock crawler, or just have a home built utility vehicle, trust me, beadlocks are a necessity.

Having made a couple of bead breakers from scratch you need at least 2" sq tube as an upright. And you need the wheel and tyre on the frame of the machine with a stop to stop the rim sliding away. I have also owned the generic 'Harbor Freight ones. They are at best very average though can be modified to something usefull and you can wind most tyres on and off. Pulling tyres often bends the wires sligfhtly then near impossible to inflate, and when you do the tyre still goes down. I have done thousands using old basic equipment inc impact bar to break the beads. These days a decent tyre machine can be had for not a great deal of money. As for those rims, dodgey at best and you need a deal more clearance to the spring cup as those tyres will move on the rims a lot
@DEADB33F
@DEADB33F 4 жыл бұрын
Method I've always used for bead breaking is to lay the tyre flat, put a long-ish length of 6x2 on the tyre sidewall as a ramp, then drive up it slowly with a heavy truck. Once the weight of the truck starts to be transferred to the sidewall the beads pop off with no damage and no drama.

Those rims look great the way you modded them, only thing is they should be wider for the Executioners. They are too "crowned" when they are mounted up. Executioners have much better traction when the tread portion is more of a flat profile. I have run through 2 sets of these tires on my rhino and while they are a heavy tire, they offer very good traction in most conditions.
