This video just changed my life. I made two of these trellises this morning and I will be making several more in the spring when I do a bunch of repotting. I already had a big roll of the wire leftover from a different project anyway. This is awesome.

Hi Betsy! This was a great tutorial for making a DYI trellis. You explained everything so well that I'm pretty sure that I can do this! LOL! I just need to get the PVC-coated fence/mesh. I have some similar velcro for plants and really like it. I like how it is just one piece and linked together with it's own wire. I'd been trying to figure out how to make something like this, but I was way over-thinking it. Thank you so much for sharing!

Be careful for mealy bugs that love to hide inside of stuff like that. 😅 That's why I like the Velcro strips. You can detach them and check for mealies.

When you bounced the empty pot and trellis around LMAO! Thanks for this idea, I just got my first hoya and instantly took it off it's circular trellis because I didn't like the look. But maybe I'll try this instead, to make it look more natural!

@@betsybegonia Oh that’s hysterical! Love your sense of humour! We call it “rabbit fence” here, because used in gardens to theoretically keep rabbits from munching on food crops, although the rabbits often outwit the fences....Wrascally Wrabbits!

I just discovered your channel and I love it! You're really funny and quirky haha 🌸 I also love begonias, but I have had such trouble keeping mine alive as my local environment makes it more difficult (superrr dry air, verrry hard water). Eventually I'd like to try to build an Ikea-greenhouse thing when I have money, and would like to fill it with beautiful begonias. I also have a hoya that is on its last leg 😭 I think I'm prone to over-watering it; I think it just does not use as much water as my other plants so I've had trouble keeping the balance. It lost its new growth and other stems... It is now a single leaf clinging on to life 😭 I'm trying very hard to maintain the moisture levels; the plant wasn't cheap, like almost $20!
@lleo97032 жыл бұрын
Hey, sleepy, I had trouble with Rex begonias in my dry (northern Nevada, USA) climate. I don’t use a humidifier in my home. Try cane begonias! Try a “lucerna”. If in USA you can order it from Steve’s Leaves, they have lots of cane begonias to choose from once you find cane type work for you. Also, use reverse osmosis water or distilled water. I have luck with hoyas here, but only water when dry. Good luck with your plants!
@necromancer-x2 жыл бұрын
@@lleo9703 Hi, Leo! I appreciate you commenting! :) I will definitely look into your tips and check out the cane begonias. At least now I'm developing a better intuition and understanding of how plants work 😅
