Joy, you are my hero! I love it when a home owner decides to help themselves. Many times we can make a mistake and do it twice and still be cheaper than a contractor. I have a friend I'm helping I'm going to suggest she allow me to do this.

I just got an estimate of $6,000’to redo my driveway in similar condition. I bought 8 bags of QPR and 15 gallons of asphalt sealer, cost me about $350 and it looks new again, not even a 10th of the cost they wanted to charge me! You can seriously extend the life of your driveway doing your own work

@JRJ19772 жыл бұрын
It's been two years, and the driveway is still looking good. It depends on how often you want to resurface your driveway. I know I wanted to do it every 3 years to keep up with the winter damage, but I used the Black Jack Drive Maxx-1000 (supposed to last 10 years). It's the most expensive compared to Maxx-7000 and Maxx-3000. I probably could have used the cheaper kind, but I wanted to ensure that the quality is good and that it'll last a while until I could resurface it again. We've sold the house since then, but we drive by it, and it's still looking good.

I have a 3800 sq ft horseshoe driveway. Crazy on how much guys wanted to repair a few potholes and then seal since my driveway is huge plus it is 4" thick which is how thick they put down the driveways in 1980. I got 10 bags of Perma Patch and 16 containers of Black Jack drivemaxx 1000 and my drive looks great. BTW, QPR is ok but I have used Perma Patch and Aquaphalt with great results for years. Sure, they are a lot more than QPR and others but they cure much faster and easier and last a lot longer and to me they are easily the best cold patch repair brands and only hot asphalt is better.

Good job. This is one of the best videos on DIY driveways for sure. One question... how long did you have to wait before applying the Drive-Maxx 1000 over the QPR Asphalt Patch?
@JRJ19773 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brent!! The instructions require months of cure time (depending on location). With this project, I sprinkled Portland cement over the patch, compacted some more, and sprinkled more cement. Due to the rain forecast the following weeks, we decided to apply the Drive-Maxx 1000 only two days later. Thankfully, the patch wasn’t ruined. 😊

A lot of work but I am sure you save a great deal of money. I paid $4,000 one year ago and my driveway is a mess. I had filled a pot hole before this guy showed up that looks better than the work he did. The cracks he filled are open now. The dips he was supposed to fill are still dipping in fact there is one more now. He also paved over our back patio it is crumbling pooling in spots and just a mess. He took materials like sand and stone from me and left his garbage for me to dispose of. Now this year I too will be doing this myself. Plan to redo the patio area as well. How is your driveway doing? How much did the materials cost you? Thank you for posting this !!

Thank you, Gia! Our driveway is over 3,300 square feet. It would’ve cost us thousands to get it done professionally. It cost us about $1K doing it ourselves. I enjoyed doing it and I’ll do it again in the future. So far, the driveway still looks good! 😊
