I rarely use these terms because they are annoying but they are much needed for this tutorial... O M G!! That gather method with the twine is "everything" "Yassssssss Hunty" I'm an intermediate "sewist" and cannot understand why it is that I have not seen this method until now. That made my life so much easier thank you, thank you. You are also a great teacher everyone that does a tutorial is not a great teacher and so they're methods and lessons get lost or jumbled. Great job.

@ArdenGreybyKHutchins Жыл бұрын
How do I calculate the waist without gathering it? I just want a straight a line with the split. Do I just not multiply by 3 to eliminate the gathering?
@alexandraolisa37117 жыл бұрын
I love this video, thank you ma'am for sharing your knowledge But I got lost somehow during the waist measurement (waist *3/4)...if I were to measure mine because my waist is 28, I'd get 21"(inches) after dividing... and that measurement won't be as wide as the one you showed; meaning the gathers won't be full how do I measure to get a fuller gather thanks once again as I await your reply
@Stylesewme7 жыл бұрын
Trust your math. I made the skirt in my measurements which is larger than yours, so don't compare your size to mine. It will be a full gather. If you prefer, make a practice skirt first.

That is smart 🤔about to do that 😁 thank for that technique.

Can I used chiffon materials for this
@colorblox49428 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this great tutorial! I gather exactly the same way, I can't stand those delicate basting double lines... the only difference: I use elastic thread instead of your wire and stretch it evenly with my right hand while sewing. That way, the gathers are evenly distributed from the start. I do that because I can never gather evenly when I have to distribute, I just don't have a good eye for that. Thankfully, the elastic saves me that step. Also, I don't need to secure it with a straight stitch since I just pin it to the waistband and I can stretch the elastic to match.

Good afternoon I am lost , when you say your waist multiply by 3 and divide by four , did you fold the material into two because I know it is for just one side of the skirt either front or back, so when cutting out the material do i fold into two
@Stylesewme7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I folded the fabric. When I say "cut on the fold", I'm saying my fabric is folded in half. So when you do your measurement and cut on the fold, you will cut a very wide panel. Hope that helps!
@zyskaherbert47827 жыл бұрын
So....the back is fold?

Zyska Herbert yes, the part of the skirt closest to her body is where it's folded.

Hi! I love this tutorial. I went to joann fabric store and got 3 yards and if I cut on the fold on the fabric I do not have enough for two panels. Is this because their yard measurements are not accurate or am I doing something wrong?

Did you do the measurement calculations I explained in the video? Is 3 yards enough based on the calculations? Are you folding your fabric properly?
