Hello my friend. A great bed project for your son. You did a good job. Your son looks very happy now. And he liked his new bed. I watched with curiosity. It's nice to create and share a variety of ideas to help many people. Congratulations. See you. I wish you have a nice weekend. Great greetings.

Great build Mitch! I sometimes struggle with dowels too, but I prefer pocket hole screws, and use pocket holes plugs to hide them. I enjoy them better than the dowels now. The best part of this video is the client’s reaction! Thanks for sharing bro, and God bless!

Thank you for sharing your info. I am wet behind the ears and need to build a bed since I am in between jobs, gave my bed to salvation army to downsize and am sleeping on a coleman cot which I like but it is no permanent replacement for a real bed. I need a twin because my room is about 8x14. I need to make it taller since my back isn't in the best of shape at 62 yrs. It would be nice to have a headboard with a built in bookshelf for those late night reads. I see where your hardware and board build-ups will work really good for this 180 lb. man.Thank you.

Just a thing to consider. you could use a 2x3 for the lip just in case the slats are a little short. (edit) slats are cross braces.

Very nice project Mitch. Question: Did you make the hole too large to accommodate the barrel nuts at the corners? S/B 1/4" hole. I noticed the flat head furniture bolts might have been longer than necessary since they extended well beyond the barrel nuts. When gluing wood together it's always better to sprinkle a little bit of salt on the pieces. When they're clamped together they won't move. The salt will dissolve. I'm thinking that I will add 3 inches to the length and width so that the bedding will fold around the mattress without chafing your hands while making the bed. I like the fact that you chose 1x6 instead of using 2"x lumber. Did you use "Select Pine" for the side rails? I understand the knots have an aesthetic value but I'm thinking of spending the extra $$ for Oak or Clear Hemlock. Again, personal choice. Nice project and nicely done. THANKS.

I`m retired and have a small shop where I perform woodturning, create musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I have a shelf full of woodworking textbooks - but I found this woodworking guide, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . The comprehensiveness of this book is surprising. It has decent coverage on every topic.?

Just fyi the cross dowel nuts you link to in the description are 6mm, not 1/4 inch. Something I should've checked before buying. Other than that, great build!

Has numerous details in this woodwork book *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . The book also displays several designs and descriptions on the materials used for various woodworking processes and also the guidelines on completing various procedures appropriately. In other words, I`m happy using this book, especially in the process of learning about wood working.?

Why go go thru all that glue up, buy 4x4 and eliminate at least 4 steps with the legs and maybe more.
