4. 12 - 14 feet of 1 1/2 inch satin ribbon amzn.to/3QevtgS

When I was a child, my neighbor and I used to make these. They’re so much fun. The swivel will make a wonderful difference to keep the ribbon from winding around the dowel.

@@CrystalBest Watching Olympic ribbon-dancing, I assumed that the ribbon itself was the crucial component - that its weight per square inch, aspect ratio, suppleness etc. had to be just right to make it handle well. Have you made enough to notice whether that's actually important?

Thankyou kindly for making this video, it was an absolute joy to watch. We have a local drumming flow creativity meet up weekly, i have one ribbon stick i bring to share and the kids love them. I want to give them more and hopefully some neutral colours, i domt have the money to buy a good few professional ones and looking at how to make them affordable, your video has been a big help all round 💜 EDIT: especially thankful after watch other videos that yours has the function to save to a playlist for later reference, i think it may be because of kid setting being off that we can save and comment, i understand the benefit however appreciate your vid being fully functioning

I’d like to make this using 3 strands of ribbon (1 wide and 2 thin). Would you suggest sewing them all together at the same time or individually?

Hi there. What a wonderful idea. I would definitely sew them together at the top to ensure they move all together at the same time. I would think sewing it separately would also look a bit to bulky at the top! Let me know how I turns out. 💜

How long should the ribbon be? In comparison to the person using it? Is there a standard size that works best?

Hi there! My ribbon was 12 feet long and I'm 5'8" and my kids use it quite confortably also. You can truly make it as long as you want to but I find 12 feet/4m to be a great length. ❤️❤️
