I just love these tops so much,I haven't sewed one yet,but I can't wait we are just coming to the end of autumn here in Australia,but I live in the tropics on the east coast and don't get much of a winter (eg no heaters) but that could all change seeing the Arctic freeze u guy's had over there
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching Cathy! Sorry I missed this comment before now! The arctic freeze was so bizarre, and it's been such a mild spring! I hope you're having a lovely autumn/winter!

Ooooh, this is so beautiful, the color is stunning, I might have to make a similar top peasant style, I don't think shirred would look great on me. Definitely also one of my favorites, I love velvet it is so nice to see softer colors being made available previously it seemed to be all dark/royal (which I do like) or icy.
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Rachel! 😊 I think a peasant style would be so pretty. I'm loving these softer colors too!

Oh i love this fabric! I want to make this top in the green silk/rayon velvet fabric you used. how many yards did you use? 2? Also what settings do you use on your machine for shirring? I have the same machine as you!
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Jennifer! So cool that we have the same machine! I used 2 yards, but ended up with about a half a yard left over (I usually overestimate.) For shirring I set my stitch length to the longest length, and adjust the tension to 1. I just played around with the tension until the elastic was pulling through evenly and the stitches weren't too loose. Happy sewing! ❤️

This is gorgeous! Do you have a pattern you recommend to use for shirring that has a higher neckline?
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Susie! With my original video, I share how to make the pattern, and you can make the neckline as high as you want to! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHuqYWiroL1_p5Y

@@LaurenJohnson I have seen the other video- I think is all meant to ask, how can I make it with an entire armscye? Like I need it to cover from shoulder to collarbone too.
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
@@susiecarson Ah, I see! I've thought about trying it with the addition of shoulder straps to make an armhole to set the sleeve into, but let me do a quick pattern search and see if I can find you something similar. :)
@LaurenJohnson3 жыл бұрын
@@susiecarson MCCalls 7901 could be a good option. You could raise the neckline, and if you wanted to shirr the entire bodice, you could alter the width of the bodice to be the same as the waistband. I hope this helpful! Here's a link to that pattern: somethingdelightful.com/m7901
