I can't believe how easy it is, took me 10mins to build. I used my soldering iron and it's super easy and work beautifully. I been trying to build a venturi system after watching a couple's video and it didn't work properly and sourcing some of the parts is a pain. Your method with a marble is by far the easiest so thank you for sharing.

I've been designing, installing, and tweaking aquatic filtration systems for 30 years and I have never seen that....very cool! BTW...your question Why spend the money on additional pumps?...back up. All pumps fail, usually when you are not expecting it or there to intervene, building redundancy into your system is the wisdom of experience. Thank you for the video. I love it when I learn something new like that.

True lol case in point my smaller system just drained itself today when a line failed!!! Live and learn. Do you think I should have a second water pump?

I eat sleep and dream aquaponics and I've never heard of this type of venturi before👍 I know what I'm Building tomorrow lol I'm going give that a try on a larger scale. Great video, thanks for sharing and as always Keep Building👍

I'm glad I could show you something new! Please share your results I know it scales really well with higher powered pumps... I would use a reducer to the 0.5 inch that would create an even harder pull!!

Would have been nice to see the amount of aeration coming out. I assume it worked but something to keep in mind with doing DIY videos.

Nice video. Where did you find CPVC? Would have liked to see a little longer footage of the actual bubble action.

I can't see the final bubble result you never really show the water pool. Does it turn milk white an bubbly?

Yes it did with a higher rate pump but for this video I only showed it’s use as a redundancy system for recirculated water. Working on version 2 and will definitely crank it so you can see!

I'm confused, what/how is it pumping water?😕
@matthewjones7366
@matthewjones7366 5 жыл бұрын
How much constant pressure is required for this to work? How much water will it pump relative to the input?
@homegrownaquaponics3562
@homegrownaquaponics3562 5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure... when I set it up it was coming off of a recirculating set up to control the pump without causing extreme back pressure. I don’t know the minimum constant pressure but I also don’t think it was much. It’s been awhile since physics. I think the input will match input and output assuming you have a fairly decent pump.

If you bend PVC a lot you should invest in a heat gun. Much easier than a lighter.

Hey, could this be optimised as you have put the venturi air intrance at the end of your pipe (8:45). If you put at the beginning there i more time for the air bubles to dilute in the water inside the pipe. May be you will see less air bubbles at the end of the tube but than this would be a good news as it means the oxygene is in the water. Isn't it ?
@homegrownaquaponics3562
@homegrownaquaponics3562 5 жыл бұрын
You can move the inlet to direct out of pump for sure. The way I set it in there was practical for my application and also allowed for the presentation of it working. I think I might move it to direct here soon and hook it up with clear tubing... may be very interesting

@@homegrownaquaponics3562 yes clearly, with clear tubing, is would be very interesting for a video. using a glass uside down and with marks on the surface could be a measurement procedure to asses if more bubbles dilute or nearly the same amount in depence of the distance to the tube output (measured with 2 minutes for example)

JB S hmmmm, interesting. I think for best results I would need to test the dissolved oxygen over a period of time in a static tank. It’s going to be awhile before I can do that test, but in the mean time I’ll get the materials for the inline Venturi and we can see if it causes an increase in dissolved o2 and increase in bio filter

very cool mate. so, a year down the track now, have you had any problems with the marble method? havent had to supplement the marble venturi with an air stone / a different venturi design or anything like that?
@homegrownaquaponics3562
@homegrownaquaponics3562 5 жыл бұрын
It’s still in there as a redundancy to the air pump which recently came in handy when the air pump stopped working while I was gone for 2 days. This kept enough DO available that the fish survived until I got home, albeit sluggish but alive.
@homegrownaquaponics3562
@homegrownaquaponics3562 5 жыл бұрын
I’m working on a new outline to add a solids filter and a stand alone fish tank. Also working on version 2 of the bio filter that will use this Venturi design to create turbulence and also add a second Venturi on circulation for dedicated DO. Thanks for watching check back in for update!

Why didn't you just drill a hole through and through and stick something through it to hold the marble??? Might be easier than trying to hold a lighter in the wind... just asking...
@homegrownaquaponics3562
@homegrownaquaponics3562 5 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! In hind sight I coulda shot the video inside or used a heat gun. In truth I didn’t want to add anything that could possibly leach into the system or fail over time. Alloy bolt and nut could work with a sealant... that just adds steps that aren’t really needed. I also wanted the marble dead center in the pipe. This way is pretty simple over all.

Instead of everyone arguing about the best way to sand it, why not just use PVC instead of CPVC? Not as melty?
