So.... You could run the audio from a DAW out of your computer into that and go ham? Or a keyboard, or a guitar? Then you could run white noise in the DAW through a notch filter, comb filter through a chorus or any other kind of effect and see what that does. That sounds like a good time! You know, I wonder if it would be worth while to run different audio signals into each of the three color channels.

amazing! I would be so interested in learning about how I could make one at home. must be so satisfying to work on something like this and finally plug it in & see them colors :)

After seeing a video about the hypno, as ridiculously cool it is, it's price is just ridiculous. How something based on the rpi4 can sell for $600 is beyond me. So this is refreshing to me. I like it.

a lot of the current machines are pretty naff but this cooks. the "winter freeze" does have nice amendments but the constant feedback of this build is essential. watching you use it i'd try continuous x-y offset knobs instead of the buttons. i'm not commissioning anything but i'd try and follow a schematic for my niece. nice. it's about as fluid as i remember the best results of analog feedback being, keen that you've got it in a machine.

very impressive! was this built from scratch or does it hijack an existing video circuit? stuff like this gives me hope future analog glitch artists won't have to rely solely on this discontinued analog video gear that is becoming more and more rare

This is inspiring ! How did you implement the CV for RGB ? I tried using vactrols but the colors are too dark. Only potentiometers work great.

This looks awesome, great work! I'm looking to get start with some DIY video stuff. I was just wondering if the up/down and left/right buttons could be wired to a joystick ? Instead of having to press the buttons repeatedly to scroll through the menu, you could just hold the joy stick in the right position to boost the saturation or whichever parameter, or would that not be possible ? Thanks for posting these videos up and keep up the great work !

Thanks! That should be doable; I've considered this a lot but haven't implemented it properly though I did try it with a few cheap joysticks. In practice it feels less than ideal but there are ways to make it work. By default the way that the buttons work is that a message is sent when the circuit is closed, so every press of the button makes a single *tick* of an adjustment. For the joystick itself, you'd probably just want a 4-axis one that can close separate circuits when in the up/down/left/right position - sort of like how the atari joystick worked. Super basic. You'd then need to design an additional circuit that will repeatedly close the desired button's circuit at a pre-determined interval that the existing button circuit is still able to interpret (ie. not too fast) and use the joystick to turn those circuits on and off. So basically just like a "turbo button" on those old third party console controllers. There would definitely be some advantages to being able to hold a direction to make larger adjustments, but it would also remove some of the precision afforded by using individual ticks for direction & parameter adjustment, so you'd probably want to have those available as well.

Hi, I have a question, after connecting the two converters and looping the signal I am getting a mainly green picture and have to shift the hue quite a bit. Is this normal or should the signal on all be similar and I might have created cold solder joints. Used led solder, maye there was ledfree used on the board before.
