Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I do not see how you find the time to do this PLUS teaching by day. I am 69 and can't bend easily so my refurbishing days are over, but I sure do love seeing what people do to revive and renovate furniture. I am very much enjoying watching you. Your results are absolutely spectacular. When I was teaching art (for a few years before I became chronically ill and had to quit) I made quilts to supplement our income. I could turn one out in two-three weeks. Now I have two shops on Etsy -- one for polymer clay jewelry and since I was in isolation due to COVID, a crocheted shawl shop. It's important to keep finding ways to express one's creativity. My 100 year old Mom still makes winter scarves for charity. I keep her supplied with yarn and she is so happy to decide what to make next. Enjoy your flippin'! It is so great to get rid of those darned college loan debts. They really drag you down and it is so neat to see someone who doesn't sit on their can and complain, but gets busy retiring those debts. Good for you! Keep up the great work.

I admire your clever solution to student debt, your hard work, and your sharing your experiences. With these attached mirrors, I would think about switching them to hanging mirrors. We inherited a lot of old furniture, and the mirrors are too low for today's taller people, and men cannot usually see themselves in them. Also, some people use bureaus in the front hall, and a hanging mirror works better in that location. It is easy to add eye hooks and a wire, and I think it fits today's households more appropriately. Keep up the great work! You are terrific!

If you get some playing cards from the dollar store or thrift store, you can shove them under the edge of the wood on the mirror, all around the mirror, overlapping the cards a little, to save you from having to tape it off. I also struggle with my pieces not selling right away. But I always give it 7 days....the higher the cost, the less audience for purchasing because it is a bigger commitment. I have had to re-list bigger pieces up to 3 times. If someone offers lower, let them know that you will contact them later if you don’t get the full price. That will often tip their hand to purchase it at your price because now they are emotionally invested in the piece. It DID turn out beautiful and learning a lesson is part of the process too!
@FurnitureFlippingTeacher3 жыл бұрын
That is SO true! I was thinking about 7 days but then I had to cut it down to 5 to be realistic! I have also had to repost things. I love your idea of letting them know I will reach back out if I don't get my full asking price - will be trying that next! Thanks for watching, Lynne!

You did a great job. It was worth $350 for sure maybe up to $400. It was a very large dresser. I'm glad you see where you could be patient and not second guess your price instinct. I know the wood was quite damaged, but I wonder what it would have looked like if the decorative pieces had stayed the same color as the top. It may not be the look you're going for though, with the distressed style. It's fun to see how they become a new and beloved piece of furniture.

Yes, I agree. I think waiting at least a week before changing price at all makes the most sense. With some people's schedules they may not see or be able to respond to listings right away. I usually only browse Marketplace once a week, some times as infrequently as every two weeks (I am looking for deals, and things that are not redone yet though so of course a different type of buyer than what you are looking for), and even if I see something I may not respond to the post right away depending on my schedule. If I know I'm not available to pick it up until the weekend, and it is Monday, I may not even contact the seller right away.

I sell on FBM and I wait for two weeks before lowering the cost. Usually I don't have to lower it. It takes a few days for buyers to notice your item, a few more to justify the price in their minds. Slow down. You have already done all the work, let the item sell itself. You have beautiful items to sell, items that "professional" furniture refinishers would charge at least double what you are asking. Also, I think you are underselling your items. You could begin by posting a higher price than you want so if you have to come down, you won't feel deflated.

I love this piece. I just bought a dresser similar to this and am still not sure if I will paint it or stain it. It does have chipped veneer in the front though. You did a great job with this piece though! Beautiful!

I feel you. I worked hard on a smaller buffet table. Listed it two days ago for $250. Not one message. 😭

In all my years I have never heard of furniture needing to be 100 years old to qualify as an antique. That’s very good to know. I’ve always considered like 30s-40s and older an antique haha!

Glad it was helpful! I had to do research to figure it out...I'm still not even sure what to call it, haha. Thanks for watching!

Omg love it. You should try Bondo, I like using that on pieces that are damaged pretty bad, but I don’t thank you can stain over it.

I have heard of this but was a little intimidated, ha! Possibly in the future to fill huge holes and such. Thanks again for the continued support of my work and my channel! (:

I second Bondo, they have a wood filler or an All Purpose Putty that works wonders. It stinks to high heaven, but dries hard as a rock very quick. Minwax also makes a 2 part filler with hardener now as well. I would not use either if you are staining though...

Fantastic job. And, thank you so much for talking more slowly. Some videoers talk too fast and I don't catch some of what they are saying. Also, I saw a hack. Instead of using painter's tape on the mirror before painting, use cheap playing cards to prevent paint from getting on the mirror. Happy painting. Debt is going down. Great job.
