I have to say that I admire you for doing this. I don't want to cut vinyl, but even if I did, I'd start this sort of project and give up after about a day, as soon as I found that I needed to order the "right" bolts. And by the time they had arrived, I'd have lost half of the other parts!

Super invention you have made to convert the inkjet printer to a vinyl cutter. Infact due to the e-waste piling up this type of recycling will help the people to make use of the defunct items lying in many house hold. There are certain items in your DIY seems to be 3 D printed ones. If people like you to come forward to those people who are interested in converting such inkjet printers in to an usefull item like this. Kudos.

I enjoyed watching the transformation from printer to a cutter- I do not understand the electronic components, but it was edited like the carpentry shows I watch and imagine it was simply common sense stuff for the guys that do. A 3rd video could be just the explanation for the dummies like me on what was the idea behind the repurposing of the parts in dumb-dumb speech.

The idea is good and well-executed, however, with most of us having 3d printers, adding a cutter head is very easy and converting any SVG file to an Stl is even easier.

The schematic diagram is very simple. The motors just need to be connected to the outputs of the respective drivers of each axis and the solenoid is powered through a relay which is activated by the Arduino's digital pin, most probably D11 as it is used to control the spindle motor when used in a CNC machine.
