You wear hats very well! When you opened the box I immediately thought you are going to have to make a cute hat for your baby girl. She is guaranteed to want her very own like mommy. A great resource for tips on how to wear a fancy hat could be the elegant ladies at church. They would probably be thrilled to share their knowledge with another generation. I enjoyed the video and your excitement to try something new and share it with us.

I love the perfectly 40's/50's look of both of the hats you decorated. I think the hats turned out beautiful. It just my personal preference,but if the hats were mine I would add a few more flowers. I wouldn't add a lot more just enough to look a little more full. You don't have to add more flowers if you don't want too.

Cuuute! Love an instant gratification project!! And Derby. ANY excuse to wear a hat. I like to use small metal alligator clips for my millinery projects. You can get them at all your basic box stores. They hold really well into your hair and are a little smaller in profile than the circle clippy thing. You do need to sew them on, though.

You simply cannot overdo a Derby hat! Go all out, that’s the fun. Both hats look gorgeous! To hide the comb, I’ve just stitched a satin liner to the crown area, plus then it’s smoother on my hair.

I use corsage pins as hat pins, works great to help the hat to stay in place. You can buy a box of them for pretty inexpensive. I love this hat video, would like to see more.
