They look so much better than laminate floors boards! (I'd wear gloves for the staining though)

Love this!! They look great! We are getting ready to do most of our house because I am sick of carpet. I wasn't sure if I could stain and seal before bringing them inside. I have two parrots an the fumes are so bad. Super helpful video!!

That looks really good! Have been considering something with plywood for my bathroom. Gotta try this. I wonder if my Porter Cable pin nailer would work on it.
@JalynnPatterson2 жыл бұрын
My husband used a small nail gun. He said a pin nailer wouldnt work because a pin nail doesnt have a head on it. The nails he did use were quite small but they did have a nail on it. And he also used glue.

Beautiful end results and the process doesn't look too difficult. How wide did you cut your planks?
@JalynnPatterson3 жыл бұрын
Hi! They are 8 inches wide.
@frankmills5284 Жыл бұрын
Did you put the nails straight up and down or at a slight angle? I love the way it turned out.
@JalynnPatterson Жыл бұрын
You can do either. But I glued the floor, as well. I personally went straight up and down. I would suggest using glue in addition to nailing. You also dont have to pull the whole floor with glue as I did. You could liquid nail it (caulk gun). The reason I spread the whole floor with glue because its cheaper. You dont have to use really long nails. You would go by how thick your wood is, An inch or inch and a half should work. Thanks for your comment!

Would it be better if I polyurethane the wood after is down on the floor so it would seal the cracks as well, so when mopping water doesn't get in the cracks
@JalynnPatterson11 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes, you can most definitely do that if you choose. The reason we did it the way we did was because of the poly smell.We also didnt have to stop using a particular room waiting for dry time. And we could do it at our leisure instead of all in one day. But yes you can do that if you so choose. Good question! Thanks for asking!

Hi Michelle, Did you have any concerns about any gaps? What type glue did you use? Thank you, Chris
@JalynnPatterson3 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! The type of glue we used is Tightbond 231 Select wood glue from Lowes. As far as gaps, I beveled the edges with a router but you could use a sander. Slight bevel with v bevel bit. The name of the bit is chamfer (45 degree). Just lightly bevel nothing extreme.

It looks amazing ! Is subfloors where you are installing the plywood floors cement? And How did you level the floors before installing it? Thank you !!
@JalynnPatterson2 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Sorry for the late response! The sub floors are not cement. And to level it we used lathe and floor leveler, Which both were purchased at Lowe's. On a sub floor, You locate the low areas and nail or staple lathe in those spots and then pour the leveler, but if you are on a slab, Its just a clean up and then brush on some latex concrete primer and pour leveler. Hope this helps!

How have these help up over the past year? Thinking of doing something similar.
@JalynnPatterson2 жыл бұрын
Hi! They have held up pretty well. We knew they would. We chose this way for affordability but also durability. Our three boys still live at home and they are hard on our floors. The floors look just like they did the day we laid them.

How wide did you cut these. I'm looking at doing this in my Mobile home. Also what size nails

How would you seal something like this to a concrete floor?
@JalynnPatterson4 ай бұрын
@@MaredithMcKnight Adhere to a concrete floor? A really good Bostick wood glue. Lowes sells it. A polyurethane glue is better. You could use acrylic but poly is better.
@jasonkolody54293 жыл бұрын
What size nails did you use?. Thank you.
@JalynnPatterson3 жыл бұрын
We used the roughest plywood. It was 3/8 in plywood. So for that we used a 18 gauge 1.5" finishing nail. Depending on the thickness of your wood would determine nail size. But these are our specific measurements.
@gerardodominguez5752 жыл бұрын
How did you stagger the plywood ?
@JalynnPatterson2 жыл бұрын
Hi, My boards were 8 ft long and I cut them in a stagger--7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Thats each board to start with and as I cut off the opposite end I used the cuts as a starting rack. Which will also be stair stepped and you keep doing that so that no wood is wasted. I only cut the first 7 boards like that, the rest came of the cuts came from opposite end pieces.
@edwincabrera61702 жыл бұрын
How long were the pieces
@JalynnPatterson2 жыл бұрын
Whatever the length of your original board size is. And then you would cut the length as needed.
