It is beyond me why you made it all. Love "the overgrown path" a lot more. About the video: nice one!!!
@opportunist93102 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think it would have looked better to trace a smooth curve around the borders of the walkway, and let the board overhang the supporting trim. It would have created a more floating effect, and had much smoother curves. That's just my opinion anyway, great build though!

@BYOTools overall it's nice. I would have left more greenery myself. It did need some trimming for sure. I think you would have had an easier time if you started at your deck and worked your way out. Run the starter boards parallel to the deck first. Thanks for the lesson

Well done Brent. You build things that look good and I know will last for a very long time. Very skilled.
@johnboylong402 жыл бұрын
The small piece you had to do is the area where you could have started the project by laying out the first board as a custom fit to the original deck and then continue on to the end of your pathway. Another option is to see if they sell a 2x6 or wider board to give you the material you needed and custom cutting that board to tie the pathway and deck together. Nice look either way. I’m betting very few will ever notice.

Nice quality build, thanks for the Tuff Blocks introduction as I’ll have to check those out. The reciprocating saw for roots and trim router for the deck boards saves the most time and are a couple of go to’s I use. 👍🏼

Murpjy beds have several other designs built into the wall and others that form into couch and desk. Three in one furniture takes up minimal space and lasts forever. The best ideas here include the fold into the wall stairs and Bookcase room doors. RV design for the bed adds space offers privacy yet not enough seating. Would modify to include seating during the day. Interesting video offers some options for single bedroom apartments.

What we do to get rid of the real small pieces at the end of a deck is install a double ripper. If you rip the second to last board in half, your final piece will be much larger and easier to fasten, and just look cleaner.

Oh those blocks are intriguing. Would they work for other types of applications, say under a shed? Construction adhesive for that small piece? There are some that are like epoxy just a thought. I need to redo my decks this is amazing.
@BYOTools2 жыл бұрын
Yep I have seen them used for small shed foundations. This walkway is rock solid and I'm sure a shed would be just as good. And YES i might just add a little construction adhesive to the mix :)

I'm looking to build a very similar deck/path in my yard. Do you think I could push the width out to 48" with 2x4s, or would this span be too large?
@captainover-tighten67292 жыл бұрын
Why didn't u just span with the 2x4 really right off of the deck foot? OR sit 2x4 on top of 4x4 (or notch 4x4)? But at the end of the day the answer is “my deck or path” respect, it looks very nice.

I would've used a long piece of the board since it's flexible ...then put the metal guard and routed. That wouldve given you a 5/8 inch overhang. 🙈🤷🏼 But looks good otherwise.

@asim50882 жыл бұрын
Hi, love the build! couple of questions! For the 2x4 supports I noticed you didn’t add pressure treating to the cut ends like you did for the risers, any reason for that? Instead of the waterproof tape is it possible to use a topical water proof suck as red guard? As for that little corner cut of decking could it have been possible to to screw it through the side into the adjacent structure? Or maybe a small pocket hole on the underside? Awesome work as always!

@freeheart110 Жыл бұрын
There is a fatal problem in the frame structure. The frame is nailed to the side of the little 4 x4 posts, but not on the top of the posts. That means all pressure is going to be on the nails. Poor design.
