As a young girl my daughter had several skin sensitivities . I made flannel pads for her for when she started her period. We kept a container of water and hydrogen peroxide in the bathroom and she put them in there to soak until time to wash them. She’s 31 and still wears cloth pads. I wish I had known about them when I was having periods. To think how much money I would have saved!

Do you think that fabric from a raincoat would suffice for the waterproof bottom of a homemade cloth pad?
@louiseeckert15742 жыл бұрын
If you make them with a dark, or patterned layer of cloth as the top layer, you won’t see any stains after laundering. Your method of sewing is just so relaxing to watch. And you are so neat! Louise, Australia 🦘

My daughter has been using reusable pads for several years now. She doesn’t sew but a friend of hers made some for her and little shop she knows sells them too. But I’ve gotten some really nice ones from Etsy. Would be great to be able to sew some too. Thank you for the tutorial.

Idk about heavy periods... but this reusable pad can do very well for urinary incontinence and continuous leaking of urine for some women after giving birth. Especially for those muslim women out there who suffer from this and are unable to perform their 5 daily prayers with ease. This pad can surely help them a lot. Muslim women will understand what I'm talking about. But really... I believe this will help all women who suffer from urinary incontinence.

It's practical when you're at home. Even for heavy flow you can still use the homemade pad but you just have to change it frequently. I personally will still use store bought pad when I'm outside just to be on the safe side. I'm going to make this. Thank you so much.

I used those for many years when I was younger and after use, I would soak them in water before washing then give that water to plants and they will seriously thrive. Also, mine had removable inserts for lighter or heavier days, which was nice. Don't need them anymore though, which is also nice.

@odetoless3 жыл бұрын
I agree, without a PUL or some waterproof fabric, it would easily cause leaking. The fabric from the waterproof jacket works surprisingly well but without it, it's bad.
@AudreyC3792 жыл бұрын
Or bamboo fiber which is actually better for you. The plastic in many standard disposal sanctuary pads contain harsh chemicals and can make your cramps even worse. I've switched to cloth pads and menstral cups for a number of years now and what a complete difference it made. The cramps are much more manageable. Much. And that isn't just me saying it. Countless of other women have claimed the same thing when they made the switch.

@@evajinx4181 Absolutely! It's like you carry around the whole package of pads all day long to change. That little pad in the demonstration must be for a TV menstruation because in real life that little pad would never work. You would just be embarrassed beyond belief from the leaks!
