This is such an awesome mount!! I made this mount yesterday and today I used to mount my gopro onto my bike handlebars! Instead of spending 20 dollars on a handlebar mount I made this for 1.99 and it has so many other uses than biking. It was also very solid. I was skeptical about home made mounts and the security of my gopro but this mount did great.

Hi Kyle! This is a great mount, but to be honest it's not very solid. Therefore I made a zip tie mount that is so rock solid you can even mount it on a car or a bike. You can use either zip ties or a cam buckle strap. You can mount it either on a curved or a flat surface. It would be great if you could check it out an tell me what you think about my mount. Is that the video with the bolts and nuts sticking through? Looks sturdy but no way would I mount those bolts against my bicycle frames. That would damage carbon fiber and aluminum frames not to mention scratching the heck out of the paint jobs.

Here's a thought, In the end you talk about a grip pad/cushoning, how about instead of using the plastic card, use a cut out piece from an old mouse mat? might just work great. GoPro Tips and Tricks

To add some more stability, could we have 2 slots instead of one on the wider part of the mount? This way you can attach two zip ties to give more stability. A down side can be slightly reduced adhesive area. You may also add cushion-y type material as a back for curved or uneven surfaces.

This is the most useful mount i have created after watching your channel the two way cut was most indigenous creative thing. But one thing i added was a rubber base. After glueing the card the mount was very much usable but it used to slide on metal glass and what not and the footage used to be shaky i even roughed the surface using sand paper but that still was not useful. So i ended by glueing rubbery silicone from old phone case using silicone gum and now its anti-slip and very useful.

Very good idea, thanks for sharing. I just had one thought though, wouldn't the mount stop working (eventually falling off) with the ziptie putting pressure on the foam overtime?

Thank you. I just made the mount and it took me less than 5 minutes. I've been trying to find a way to mount my go pro to my cyclocross bike for a while. Hopefully it won't fall apart when i test it this afternoon.

Good for a pole if you plan on watching the grass grow! :-P But for an action cam on a bicycle, nope! Plus trying to mount the squared edges of a plastic card onto a round tube with zipties, the card bends as it is not strong enough to support the pressure of the zipties. Not good for a bicycle, don't waste the time like I did to find this out!

Im shooting a show in two weeks where I will need to put up as many as 20 cams and keep moving them as the contest moves. This is how I will do it. there is no time to put up the stickies and move forward. Not one obstacle is the same size. it will be crazy. This is my solution, your solution. Thanks

Interesting idea, but I wouldn’t trust it. If you have pulled too tight or on a moving object, that thin plastic it just going to pull away from the tape.

I tried it and it does not work on a bicycle trying to match a flat square card to round tubes. The zip ties bend the edges of the card while trying to apply tension. I guess nice for a flat stable surface but an action cam, not so good.

Great mount, just made 2 of them. Backed the mount with some runner to stop it sliding. Don't know if i'd use them on something moving, I have other mounts for that but this is a great mount with many uses

I really like this idea. I think it is great. I wanted to suggest that on the bottom of the card to keep it from slipping around you can put a little seamgrip on the bottom. I put a few spots on my sleeping pad for camping to keep from sliding around.

I would recommend using the the 3-way pivot/side mount arm with curved adhesive mount for a helmet. I haven't ever tried mounting right on to the sled but i do know it tends to be a pretty shaky shot because of the engine vibration.
