I'm only 13 mins. in and you might even tell later on but, Where can I pick up those blocks that helps you out?? I am building a 84' K-10 (was my wife's dad's and I want to make it nice) and also my 71' C-10 Stepside that I have both cabs on homemade dolly's.... I know it probably isn't necessary but as a 18C the last four year's, of my 10 years in the army, kinda made me OCD.... I know you understand that... I do appreciate all you do brother!!

Dang Pete, you have done me and thousands how to make it easy. You break it down, build coat of filler after bodywork, skin the film off and get the beginning shape, in this case, mostly flat. Filler after that, finer paper but more control. Who want to shave off money you just put on and create more waves & uneven surface. Now down to finer grit with guide coat and the proper hand block. All a long time before grabbing the dura-blocks until you apply high build. I am in debt to you for your easy to follow explanation of the situation, product, paper, equipment sanding, guide coat and work it into flawless final product. You have said in the past, that comments made have said they gave never seen the car finished. Well it’s simply, they have not watched enough videos. I can fix anything mechanical on a vehicle, but your videos are way more than just body work. It’s doing is correctly and when to use what. I have learned an entire new skill set due to your video training. My 36 year old son loves the early 80’s cars. I send him a link to “DIY Auto School” by watching A, B, C, etc. after that, as we work together but I watch and stop him! What would Pete do at this point and why. This you, helping me, teach him with you as the leader! If he does it wrong, I quiz him about the steps. His answers include my question of “What did My Friend Pete tell you at DIY auto school? That’s when his light bulb comes on! Thanks Pete, your knowledge has now multiples. Thanks..

Helo Pete! Polyester primer hardens with the same hardener like typical bondo: Peroxide (Perhidrol). In the regular bondo this hardener is painted with neutural pigments (so the wont get colored). In polyester primers that same hardener is diluted with Benzol (you can read the lable on the primers hardners package[Di benzol peroxide] ). The polyester primer is not a typical bondo,witch i do agree with. It contains vinyl resin which makes it more durable and prevents it from cracking, but in my opinion it shood be placed ontop of the epoxy primer. Wish you all the best!

My friend Pete has an edge today, Grannie needs to give him a talkin to, we understand your enthusiasm but you don't have to yell!
@deankay44343 жыл бұрын
No yelling, no Pete. I spent almost 4 decades in shops both dealerships and a few independent shops. You loose your hearing and naturally start talking loud. I am a loud talker because of hearing loss. I give an example of no ear plugs and ear muffs. I don’t know if anyone ever made them!!! Do you know what “Sun Screen” was called during the 70’s? DIRT!

Someone told me a trick which was to lightly wipe some laquer on your polyester putty to get the slime of the top and it will sand much easier,just a light wipe cut that slimy top of the poly putty.

i got a motor home with about 1.5 feet of damage round like it got hit . i got it ready for paint in 15 min. used fiberglass and finish with bondo they said there is no way that is coming out nice but after a week it still looked perfect but they did not know i worked on vetts for years got real fast with it . when i9 was doing vetts for a shop i still made up to 700 a day back in the 80's .i always looking to learn a new way never can be to old to learn . i use to only use lead on cars that i restored but that is to much of a bitch and it is no better just adds weight to the car . now i only work on rust free cars but i am lucky too have all the cars i need to build i keep getting them for free .

I had my hood painted about 8 years ago by a local body shop. They did a very disappointing hack job, probably thinking low-value old car. I cannot fully understand why however in two areas these craters have opened up like the Grand Canyon about 3mm deep and up to 400mm long with some sort of white hard stuff between the paint and the metal. Any idea what they may have done?
