In this woodworking video, I’ll show you how to make an illuminated charcuterie board that glows using epoxy and LED lights. You’ll love this LED honeycomb serving board. This backlit serving board will impress your guests at dinner parties! I cut the hexagons using a homemade hexagon cutting jig and laid them out in a honeycomb pattern laced with epoxy resin.

What a nice & refreshing video. Especially the pushing sound when the hexagons got cut. Clear facts, super work and out of mainstream. Love it.

For future reference, I think CA glue would be the way to go for keeping the hexagons secure to the bottom. This would make them more uniform so you don’t have to remove as much material from that side when flattening.

To help with sanding I bought a off cut of hall runner carpet, it stops the bouncing when sanding and it’s easy to vacuum the sawdust out of the carpet when finished. With the help of a heat gun warm the back of the mold and this will help with releasing it from the resin project. Like the cutting board defiantly a talking piece at the next dinner party.

If you put some neodymium magnets on the bottom of the hex board and washers in the corners of the base, you could have this on a wall with the lights on when you aren't presenting food on it! This is a cool project, It really is too nice to just leave it in a cabinet 99% of the time.

Two things. Awesome project. From the sled to the finished design! Sounds like you need a drum sander!! Slow, but you don't have to worry about knives and stuff. Also, alcohol dissolves hot glue! Scraper seemed to work, but maybe that will help you in the future. OK that was 3 things... lol

Amazing. Awesome idea. Only thing I would comment on is to sand the epoxy into or past 1000 grit to get it as clear as possible. I sand to 12,000 but I go for a glass finish. At 600 epoxy has a frosted glass look, if you want that then save time sanding, if you want it smooth sadly you have to keep going... Or do an epoxy sealing coat
@DIYMontreal
@DIYMontreal Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I was going for the frosted look so 600 would have been the ideal grit to stop at it sounds. Good to know for future reference. Thanks
