Snowco Femco RU-50 ROPS 54" Tractor Umbrella (Orange): amzn.to/34AG7qM
Links to other colors are below:
If you’ve followed my channel for a while, you’ve seen the umbrella canopy on my tractor in some of my videos. It, plus my ROPS mounted fan, provides shade and cooling for me during the hottest months of the year.
There are a lot of choices for ROPS mounted tractor canopies. For my first canopy, I wanted something fairly inexpensive and removeable because I would mostly use the canopy in the summer months. Otherwise, I enjoy the full open view and being able to look up at the sky. I wasn’t ready for the expense or trouble of a permanent canopy, so it seemed like an umbrella canopy would be a good choice for me, and it turns out that it has.
Snowco Femco RU-50 ROPS 54" Tractor Umbrella with Mounting Bracket, Cover & Frame:
Kubota Orange: amzn.to/34AG7qM
John Deere Yellow: amzn.to/34AGSjC

New Holland Blue: amzn.to/30PhENb

I really appreciate your videos; and they are so well made. I have toyed with the idea of a canopy for my L3901, but the expense always kept me from pulling the trigger. I'll be checking this one out a bit closer thanks to you. Be safe.

Just bought this in yellow for my John Deere 5205. It did not come with instructions so your video was a great help. It looks good and works good. I am going to put a piece of cloth window screen material across the back of my roll bar. It will keep the sun off the back of my neck, allow air to blow through, and allow visibility to my rear. Thanks again for the great video

Martin has all the cool tools doesn’t he ...?? The cable tie tool is a smaller version of the larger commercial versions we use on flexible duct connections to round pipe. They take a 3/8” zip tie and they come up to 36” long. Those cannot be drawn tightly enough without the tool to keep the air pressure from blowing the flex/hard pipe joint apart on medium or high pressure duct systems. I actually use my commercial tool on the little ties on occasion.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Wendell, I have one of those for the 3/8" zip ties too. I got it when I rebuilt the duct work in part of our home after major renovations. I still use it on occasion when I need a BIG tie wrap for a project. Never thought about using it on small ones. I'll have to try that!

Great timing on this video! I have been wanting to put a canopy on my tractor, but paying $400+ dollars for one plus shipping has kept me away from the purchase. That’s an ideal solution for me on those days that are hot as Haiti in full sun. Here in TN working much past 10-11am is a no go without it. Just ordered for my Kubota from your link! Thanks!

Hahahaha. I loved the subliminal message Lolol. Awesome details Martin. I still don’t know how you do every darn video so professionally. You bring up a lot of nice points for those interested in sun protection. Except directly outside my shed I am in the shade of a few thousand trees most all the time. Lol. Great video on what appears to be a very good bang for the buck. No green for the John Deere’s OR my old Oliver’s huh......

Hi Wendell! Glad you liked it! I have used it only 3 or 4 times in 101 videos. That one needs to be used sparingly, IMO. Thank you for the kind encouragement, my friend! Nope, no green, but that yellow one ought to look pretty good on them. Just add a ROPS to them. LOL! BTW, the make a fender mounted version for older tractors without a ROPS. Thanks for watching!

Thanks DIY for the canopy demo and features display. I have the hard top made by Curtis and it's done well for me . Yep you gotta always glance up when traveling around trees and trabches b/c a branch could easily redesign things. My caopy is reversible so I can use the backhoe and when I had to flip-flop to backhoe position, it was a tussle b/c I hadn't practiced doin that while in the foeld and it abou kicked my behind. when I demo'ed it for the video, I was on level ground and used a small step-ladder to provide proper height. Stable Footing was an issue for me when out in field on uneven ground. The cccCurtis caopy wasn't too heavy but when the wind catches it while you're attempting to flip=flop canopy positions, you're in for an exciting day. You can imagine holding a kite with the wind whipping. Enjoyed a full-watch, my friend. Have a fine weekend, Martin. Don🙂

Nice video Martin, I live here in Arizona and I needed a good canopy and light weight as well. I like this style but another good light weight style people can check out that is easy to take on and of is the rhinohide canopy. I have to take mine on and off to lower my ROPS to get into my garage. It is a hard canopy but yet it is flexible as well, ask me how I know. Yes I have tried to drive into my garage in the up position(just once). LOL CONS to the rhinohide canopy to yours is it does cost a little more, takes a little more room to store and slightly heavier but easy to handle still by one person. Only comes in black PRO's It is more durable, it can stand up to use around trees(it flexes enough with small branches and makes them move as well) Very easy installation as well and it is water proof as well. I still have to get my fan mounted Martin but keep the great videos coming.

Hi Dave! I’m familiar with the Rhinohide canopy and have seen some videos on it. If I recall, it was a bit small for the amount of shade I wanted, but easy to handle for that reason. Plus, it’s mounting system would mean I would have to redo my ROPS mounted LED lights. It sounds like the perfect choice for you, though. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay I think your Lights would of worked, I have 4 lights mounted on my rops on the side to forward 2 rear nothing on the center but I could. Both Canopies are good choices I was just posting incase your viewers wanted something a little heavier but still flexible. Keep on tractoring!

I went through two of them on my John Deeres. They lived short lives because of low tree limbs. They were nice while they lasted though.The ROPS on the JD is tilted back and these umbrellas are difficult to set level or slightly angled downward because of that and a moderate breeze will flip the umbrella upward. If you can stay away from low hanging limbs you will be alright.

Most of the available tractor canopies are too small or mounted too high to provide good shade when the sun is not directly overhead. I wonder if this one could be mounted differently, with the support arm positioned UNDER the ROPS instead of above it. It looks like that might be possible, if the clamping bracket is inverted and reversed. That would place the slotted angle adjustment bracket below and behind the ROPS frame and pointing down, so that the support arm would be angled upward from a lower position under the ROPS bar. My ROPS is pretty tall, so I don't think that this put the hardware too close to my head, and the lower umbrella position should provide better shading and more clearance above the umbrella.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete! Sounds like that should work just fine if you don’t mind the lower headroom. I’d constantly be banging my head on that support arm, so it’s not an option for me. Thanks for watching!

Another excellent tutorial, I didn't know you could get an umbrella canopy. I've got hard shell canopy on my tractor. As per usual I always learn something on your videos, this time it was a cable tie tightener, how do they work?
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
G’day Mark! Glad you liked it. There are a number of different tie wrap or cable tie tightener designs. With this simple one, you slide the end of the tie wrap into the side of the tool and squeeze the handle, which grabs the tie wrap and pulls it tight better than you could by hand. Thanks for watching!
