Hey Martin, that looks good! Funny how a little color in the right place. Changes the look so much!

Good morning DIY! It's shaping up really nicely. I can't wait to see you working in your new workshop/garage soon. A couple of good tips there with marking your nail holes before screwing the two pieces together and drilling the holes in the box to allow moisture to escape. Have a good week and looking forward to the completion. Cheers!

Thanks GP! Part 3 is done and uploaded but won’t go public until later next week. You taught me something about release timing, my friend! Cheers!

Very nice and precise as well sir. The bad thing about carrying all those tools is now ya have to WORK with them when you get where you're going !! LOL. Seriously Martin, as always you've given an exemplary performance for building an awesome project.

Martin, this is definitely well thought out. Very methodical workmanship. Love the dash of color-bling (smile). Yep, it's snazzy and I like it (smile). Enjoyed a full watch. Can't wait for Part 3.

Thank you, sir! NH? That’s too far north for me! Temps haven’t been very cold this winter in Georgia but we’ve had almost non-stop rain since the fall so I’ve had very few opportunities to play on my Kubota. Stay warm and safe!

Hey Martin!!! You are making some sweet mods to that ballast box brother!!! I like that you planned out what and why you are doing the mods. I usually make mods to accommodate my mods. Your mods are well thought out and there is no need to mod because of a mod!!! Looking forward to the next episode!!!

The box looks great, and all of the mods look like they are really hands. Wondering though why you didn't make a concrete form from wood and cast your own concrete ballast for a lot cheaper than $300? I just ordered this box and was thinking I would fill it with bricks, but I've seen several videos where concrete is used and can't really understand the pros of a concrete other than total weight being a bit higher than if you used clay bricks or concrete bricks.
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Ed! Filling it with bricks could be a cheap way to go, especially if you already happen to have a pile of bricks handy. Concrete fills every nook and cranny so you get a lot of weight. Besides, concrete helps secure the 4" tool carriers and chainsaw scabbard. Thanks for watching!

I enjoy your videos. Can you tell me about your gloves? Are they work gloves? Where did you get them?
@DIYMyWay4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Verle! If you are talking about the fingerless gloves I was wearing while working on the ballast box, they are made by Isotoner and use Thinsulate to help keep my hands warm in a cool basement. They aren’t really durable like work gloves, but you can wear work gloves over them for the best of both worlds. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Super video! What is the small hand tool you used to start the drill spot? Looked interesting.
@DIYMyWay3 жыл бұрын
It’s an automatic center punch, which is great to have. But that particular one was a cheap one from Amazon that hasn’t held up. I’m about to order a better quality one on Amazon. Thanks for watching!

Looks great! I use regularly drywall screws. They have nice treads, very small body and yet a good strength. But they are not rust proof...
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe. The ones I used are coated black and seem to be rust resistant but not rust proof. When I have removed old drywall screws, they are a often a little rusty but not completely. I'm not worried about these since they are encased in PVC except for the head. Thanks for watching!
@ArturoGarzaID5 жыл бұрын
Were you punching holes with your hand in the metal with that little tool? What is that?
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
No, just creating a small dent in the metal to help keep the drill bit from wandering off target. It’s called an automatic center hole punch. Very handy! Here’s the link to it: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008DXYOLC/ Thanks for watching!

Think I would have used a rubberized coating on the edges and corners.
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
I considered it, but already had the gloss black on hand so went with that. Besides, I’ll only be taking the ballast box to social events so I don’t think it will it scuffed up to badly. 😀

Yet another good video! This beats my steel box full of old brake disks hands down.thought I was being fancy putting reflective triangle on mine. Just out of curiosity, have you watched any of Paul & Kathy Short ? as of late they are more a small manufacturer ( still enjoy them), but some of the older videos are full of great tractor ideas.
@DIYMyWay5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Bubba! Yes I subscribe to Paul & Kathy Shorts channel. They have done some pretty cool mods over the years. BTW, how do I KNOW you are the Original Bubba? 🙂
@theoriginalbubba10365 жыл бұрын
I'm sure there were many more before me. Before my little brother could talk he called me Bubba. It stuck, and since has meant brother to me. So when I was in the army, I started calling My closest buddies Bubba, then they started calling each other Bubba we developed quite a clan. It confused the hell outta the officers. "So, Which one of you is Bubba?" Now years later, all of my church brothers are doing the same, and my 10 grand children also call me Bubba. So of my extended group, I AM the Original... ;)
