Hi! I fell in love with these when I saw them yrs ago. So I have a great tip I thought of. I used muslim fabric I painted, let dry then put through my sticker machine. They're not expensive. Anyway, works like a charm! Took off backing after cutting into strips and wrapped around the straw! 16 yrs later, they are still stuck good! Love these beads. The options are endless! Have fun! ☺

I too like the real time process videos. I could have figured it out from your other video and I would have but it was nice to see this one also. Thanks so much for the idea and for taking the time to do this one, even after you had made so many other beads. I'm looking around for things I can use and tossing them into a project box. Eventually it will get full enough to start making them. I need to go through my bead stash anyway. nThis is as good a reason as any. Cheers

I work a lot with scraps of Indian sari silks & Indian sari cottons. When I want to use them to make beads, I find it helpful to iron my fabric pieces, let cool then, using watered down glue, I brush it on each piece of fabric & let dry. This keeps the piece nice a smooth and also prevents all the fraying threads. It makes these pieces so much easier to roll.

Hi Sigrid! First and foremost, thanks for sharing. I found an alternative to using the pen shafts. Instead I use a drinking straw, run my wire through the straw with about 1" to 1 1/2" of wire sticking out both ends. I then secure the wire by filling the straw with hot glue. This serves two purposes. It hardens the straw shaft and secures the wire within the shaft to prevent any movement. I know you used beads on the inside of yours to stabilize the wire, but I am very stingy with my glass/acrylic beads and hate that they would not be seen. Again, thank you for sharing your creativity!

Helpful hint.. you can upend your glue bottle into old vitamin jars...and keep them ready to squeeze and use... also keeps glue from being dried out with sucking air in and out. Also I found it helpful to put weight in the bottom.. old keys or heavy scrap. Have fun gluing... and whatever else you make time for in not shaking glue to the tip!
