Hallo aus Mitteldeutschland. Ich nutze eine ähnliche Methode, für die automatischen Duftsprays / Lufterfrischer im WC ! Diese Methode ist dann interessant, wenn es den Duft welchen die Ehefrau möchte, nicht als Duft-Spraydose zu kaufen gibt ! Ausserdem darf "Mann" dann, öfter in den Keller und kann dort Basteln (z.B.: an der Modelleisenbahn 😆).

I would say just before the seams on the plastic bottle give way. And I would surely NOT use an air compressor on this little project, or the bottle will explode and you will have plastic fragments in everything, including your skin and eyes. Not to mention the paint … you will have all of that paint everywhere and dripping off of everything - including you! If you do not think this will happen, please set up a couple of video cameras to catch the action. And then be sure to post your video so that we can all have a good laugh. But please do not get hurt. That would be dreadful.
