Just for information. Ranger Rover sunroof’s do have an override default. If it’s just simply suck press and hold sunroof button down for 45-60 seconds (don’t let go) if motor is in working order it will default to properly close. If it still doesn’t set be careful not to break glass by forcing default to override too many times. If it’s off track the override default will only make noise and it quite possibly could be a belt inside/under interior frame. Hope this helps some sunroof problems. I have had multiple issues after entire new sunroof was replaced for over 4 grand which was incorrectly installed with Land Rover telling me the motor no longer worked! Guess what sunroof still not working but the motor works perfectly! Trustworthy, I think not. Thanks & best of luck!😅 This video is Brilliant…thank you 🎉

Trim removal technique is golden...thank you. Now to find the problem of sunroof not working. Power at both fuses ok, but no click whirrs or anything when moving either switch...tilt or open.

I dont dislike the video but I can't say the same for the sun roof. I'm 73 and never missed having one before. Let's just keep adding more things to break and increase the cost of a car. In the 70s you could get a totally decked out chrysler or chevy for 4000 or so.

WOW I'm sure you can manually wind the roof shut with an allen key saves time on stripping every thing down. Appreciate you will have to do this eventually when the belt etc needs replacing

If that belt is jammed you won’t be able to close it without taking the belt out.

I hoped to do that too, but had to go with removing the motor as the Solara's gear drive doesn't provide access for it.

This actually fixed my sunroof. About 3 months ago my sunroof wouldn't close, it acted like it was going to but at the last second it would just keep reopening. I did the manual close, Now it works fine and has been for months

I have everything open like you said and I am pulling on the broken belt and it’s not budging. I didn’t have to remove everything that you did to gain access to the belt. I have a Toyota 2005. The belt is hanging just like you showed in your video with the black plastic wrapper around it

Tried the allen wench on motor & it made that sound then nothing... can't force it, i feel it will break. Next I will try what you're doing because that's exactly what my son would be doing

I always like to help the motor by pushing it open and pulling when closing, just to take the strain off it. never had any problems with it so far, and my car is 10 years old.

I’ve had a dozen cars with electric sunroofs never a problem kept them for decades but a 2010 MKX 55000 original miles 5000 a year from 94 year old neighbors they probably never used it not even once. Looks brand new open the sunroof now I’m in trouble. And I bet they’re OEM you can’t get parts anywhere but from a dealer. I’m dumping it now just because of this. Low mileage is same problem as high mileage

Stellar job on video. You know your sunroofs man! I have a 2003 Montero Limited. My sunroof stuck fully open 3 years ago. Opened fine and then it wouldn't budge to close a couple of hours later. I had one person pull on the glass as I cycled the button on and off because it would move about 1/2" at a time that way, but only if a person tugged forward on the glass as I switched the switch on and off in forward position. So I got it 98% closed, but it doesn't go upward and entirely seal fully closed. That was 3 years ago. What do you think the problem is?

I have something very similar on my MK6 GTI going on. Stays in tilt mode, when you try to close it it's all misaligned and cockeyed. makes knocking clunking noise

I think your best option would be a junk yard. It will be the cheapest and you will get a chance to safely practice replacing it....

Either that or there might be gears to operate it. Maybe try to manually turn them. Also, check if the motor is working, and if not - fix or replace it.

Lexus is350 2006 it’s not working for me. I pulled the belt on both sides but sunroof is not closing. Any ideas other than paying Lexus dealer 600-800 to fix this.

Ask someone to push down on the sunroof as you pull. And if that doesn’t work, try to be pressing CLOSE button at the same time. Also, check if there is another belt in there maybe. One belt could be driving gears, another belt goes from gears to the actual sunroof.
