Oh my goodness I’ve been there and totally feel your pain!! I spent 2 days, 8-10 hours each, pulling nails and staples from my 100+ year old wood floors after pulling up the absolutely disgusting carpet! 😣 You have such a rewarding result there!! It’s sooo nice! I used your code a couple of months ago and now have 4 boxes of samples from Flooret! You are not joking about how incredible their product is!! It’s so pretty, great colors with a perfectly right sheen! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with them!!

I discovered your videos last week. I have watched you literally non-stop since then. You Two are very addictive. I love all your furniture re-do’s. I also watched all of your Road Trip videos…(I guess it was actually just 1 long one). I envy all of your energy. My daughter loves hiking and travels a lot, so I wrote down every one of the waterfalls and airbnb’s (or at least the cities they were near.). Thank you for letting us travel with you. As a couple, I just love watching your easy banter with each other. Sometimes, as I am watching you unload the van or carry a piece of furniture…and Dean is doing cartwheels, I want to say, “Quit goofing off and help your wife!”. But I realize that this is part of the fun of watching the two of you together. It is the reason why your show works. Don’t ever stop having fun together! That is a big part of making a good marriage work. My Sweet Charlie passed away 3 years ago and there never was a day of our marriage that he didn’t make me laugh. Keep up the re-finishing and I will keep on watching and telling other people about DIY WIFE. ❤ 😊

Dean you are truly a mastermind. The Pink Panther theme was great man! You rock! Oh did i tell you that Peter Sellers the original Pink Panther was a distant cousin of mine. not the most favourite person in the family tree but who knew. Really and truly a distant cousin. My Grand Dad used to look after him when he was a kid in Southsea seafront area that was converted long after he left the building and became famous for being a little nuts or i say eccentric into a Chinese take away. He was born in Portsmouth In the South of England in the county of Hampshire. He was born in my home town in the UK which was also the birth place of the author of Oliver Twist and many other novels of his fame Charles Dickens. Whos house is a cultural heritage sight there with replicas of the furniture and the drapes of that time period as well as some of the original furniture pieces of the time. Just a bit of trivia for you. Andrea i have to say you have been inspirational in helping me not let my auto immune disease rule my life. I take medications to help me manage my disease and keep it under control and to also get up and do the things i love to do. i love that you don't let nothing stop you from doing what you clearly love to do. i am sure behind the scenes you have your good days and bad but you don't let it get you down for long and that is what i love about this channel. My Auto Immune Disease hit me all of a sudden 14 years ago and after 10 visits to the emergency room one of the doctors actually read my chart and tried something different then he found it. he said i had probably had it for a lot longer than the few months i was suffering with it back then It almost killed me, literally i was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on my way back to bed and i was out cold i had zero blood sugar count and my white blood cells were too high. My system was clearly over worked and under paid, wouldn't you know it is the story of my life. All kidding aside it was the lowest point i have ever been in my life. On top of that i had Fibromyalgia and a heart condition that kept me on my toes and all the health problems i had as a child suddenly made tons of sense. i was a sicky kid, always upset tummy and migraines too so i empathize with you and i can say i honestly feel your pain and suffering. If you don't know what fibromyalgia is it is a chronic Pain and fatigue disease that has not cure and they do not know why and how it happens. It is where the fibrous tissue in your body holding your muscles to your skeletal frame holding all of you together becomes painful all the time. You end up with carpal tunnel and tennis elbow and all the joints in your body over time just get more and more painful even with the medication it just dulls the pain it doesn't eliminate it. Even working on my farm is a chore sometimes sometimes i hurt so bad from the day before i just want to stay in my PJ's all day and just sleep but after watching you for so long now you have inspired me to push myself to doing more, i get up most days now with the mindset to just get on with it and listen to the i told you so's for pushing myself too far and too hard but that part isn't down to you that is just my stubborn streak in me that once i get my teeth into something i keep going till i quit or i fall to the floor exhausted. I am so stubborn sometimes its mind blowing really! Andrea i think you have come a really long way since flipping cabinets and giving them new life so i thank you for inspiring me to just get it done and as soon as it is done it is so worth the pain and suffering. God bless you both really you are both amazing! Thank you.

A trick I learned that might help you with measuring in areas like the upper steps. Instead of bending the tape measure and guessing what it is, the metal casing is 3 inches so run it up to the wall and read what it says then add 3 inches. I believe every tape measure has the inches marked on it but mine is 3 inches.

I don’t normally comment but I just wanted to post a PSA. I had these steps before and if you don’t wear shoes in the house and you wear socks. They are very slippery and my dad and husband both had serious falls. These are not cheap and we had to rip them out and install carpet. I know she said they haven’t had problems but I would think twice and consider who’s living in your house and if you wear socks. I would not recommend these stairs to any of my friends or family. No hate just genuinely concerned and it was really scary when my family fell.
@sharondoan14476 ай бұрын
You are so right. It only takes one person to fall and change their life and yours forever. Slippery wood steps with children is too risky.

There are different clear, anti-slip textured stick-on vinyl pieces you can put on your stairs. Kinda of like what they have for bath tubs and showers so people don’t slip.

I have stairs just like this. LVP on top, and I wiped out down them twice within the first few months before adjusting to them. You are absolutely correct they’re slippery and the bottom stair blends in so well with the floor, that’s how I fell the first time and snapped my ankle really badly.

I’m currently working on my stairs and omg the staples.. I did not have help and there were so so many. I kept having to stop while sanding bc I kept finding one or two I missed. Gloves are a must. Can’t wait to see what railings you’ve picked out. I love the modern wrought iron ones that are thin and have ball details but I don’t have an open staircase. Mine will just be a handrail along the wall.. if I could weld though.. oh boy! 😍 If I wasn’t working on three projects at once it would be time to learn. 😂

You need a multi-tool with a metal attachment to cut stubborn screws flush. I found it very useful when I encountered it.
@queencityminis6 ай бұрын
When I'm removing excessive staples, I pass a metal paint scraper over them back and forth a few times. That pops many of them out and breaks off others. I only use pliers to remove the stubborn ones.
