Hi from Wales UK. I found this really helpful particularly interested in the use of different multi tools ❤

I just had an electrician who couldn't make a whole in the wall for an outlet, that I want to move up, cause we didn't know that there would be mesh behind my plaster walls. But! Your video is amazing and im gonna make the hole myself! Thank you for posting!

Wow! This is exactly, I think, what I’ve got. I cut into a wall, hoping it was not lath and plaster, but it was. Okay. Then I hit a wire mesh. WTH. I ran to KZbin and found your video! Thank you.

cement wall boards with mesh are the worst. What a terrible construction material, I don't understand why this was used. I had to deal with this also and it was such a pain in the butt. Your video was a great find, I was trying to use an angle grinder also and didn't know there were tools for oscillating multi-tool for this kind of issue. Thanks so much, I am so thankful you took the time to make the video. So helpful and saved me tons of time!! Have a great day!

I had thought of using the same tool for this exact same type of wall, but wanted to check what others have used. And what do you know - here I find your video that put my idea into action and confirmed its efficacy in advance! Awesome video. And good to know that I may need some metal snippers as well. 👍🏻

Good video! Although I find that the multi tool blades dull way too fast. I just use the angle grinder but I hold the shop vac up to it to contain the dust as best as possible. Wire lathe and structolite / plaster is a pain but it’s what all the houses in the northeast were made of!

Suggestion for the easiest alternative: angle grinder with abrasive metal cut off wheel cuts through everything and anything fast!

I’m going through this hell now! My upstairs shower head connection had a hairline crack causing a leak downstairs to the guest room ceiling. That ceiling has drop ceiling tiles. I removed the drop ceiling to find plaster. I figured there would be wood behind the plaster. The whole ceiling has this metal layer behind the plaster

Now imagine you need to do two entire walls of a corner room in a brick house to add insulated stud walls! 7 inch grinder with a diamond blade, or is there a better way? Multitool is too slow and blades don't last.

Good luck! Multi-tool is not the right tool for that scale for sure!

I would have used a Sawzall with a metal cutting blade and ride along the joist.
