So wonderful to hear James Moody singing the words to his own sax solo that he had recorded many years earlier. He is covering his own solo also previously recorded by King Pleasure and Eddie Jefferson. Amazing.

a little bit late on this.... lol. I'm actually playing in the south Louisiana area. Never met Danilo Perez, but my experience with Sandoval wasn't so great. That's cool that you got to see his good side though!

Why is James Moody so goofy!? haha. Possibly the best part of this whole performance is when James screams "Flora" at 6:13.

Is there a reason these videos are split up so strangely? They seem to cut off in the middle of a song, then the next video finishes the song and starts a new one. It would be far better if they were cut in the transition between songs.

if you met the guy you'd understand. If you're not Hispanic or African American, he thinks that you shouldn't play any sort of jazz. I should know, I had a gig with him in a latin group, Caliente, and I was 1 of 3 white guys. When rehearsal didn't go exactly perfect, he flipped out. In general the guy is a real jerk on and off stage.

For example, there is bad blood between him, Jon Faddis, and some other trumpet players (can't think off the top of my head) because each player was given a specific amount of solo time to end the concert, and Sandoval just disregarded that and soloed the whole time. Ask anybody in the music program at Florida International (that's where he "teaches") that has crossed paths with him if you don't believe me.
