Absolute hero to me for getting Ruthless Rap Assassins signed - very underrated crew and an important one in UK Hip-Hop history (really a bridge in UK music) that people overlook.

Remember going to Majorca in 84 and a kid from London had a tape with this tune that blew my mind..That was looking for the perfect beat..I got home and a few months later electro 5 tape was doing the rounds and the rest is history..loved the music ever since and lived it..Us 80s teenagers were so lucky..I wouldn’t change that for anything..!!

PHENOMENAL..... If you're around the age of 50+ years old this is pure gold. Electro/Streetsounds is absolutely under represented in the history of UK dance music. Love it, Thank you both!!!

there needs to be a film made abit like beat street but a uk version or a tv series but it would need guidance otherwise if certain people get involved it will be a let down

I find UK Electro LP has some pre-House leaning. I think that is why it is so unique sounding. Hashim had that feel as well.

This kept me glued right throughout. I recall Electro 1 tapes spreading like wildfire at school, but the big pull to breaking badly was the breakdance movie and we looked up to the older guys Asiatic Soul in our local scene. One thing not mentioned in here was Electro Rock although slighty later brought the UK breaking scene to our home screens.

Respect and in some cases RIP to: Greg, Morgan Khan, Whizz Kid, Streets Ahead, Noel and Maurice Watson, Herbie Laidley and all the Mastermind Roadshow lads, Froggy, Worlds Famous Supreme Team, DST, Mike Allen and even Tim Westwood, who's show on LWR back in the mid 80's was pivotal to my knowledge of early electro, and Hip Hop history, although when he started talking like a twat and then what's come out about him recently that's obviously soured that massively!

Really enjoyed this interesting interview, made my evening, I feel blessed to have been around during these pinnacle times, you could travel up n down the country in those days for battles, no drama, no taxing ( well if your crew was big that is ) just people blasting Street sounds electro albums and the latest imports, all in competition with each other wearing the latest tracksuits and Nike Cagools everywhere, as soon as we saw someone wearing fat laces the first thing we did was ask for a battle 😂

i`m so glad to have found this! what an amazing channel to stumble on! this is historical information that could easily be lost if it wasnt for these interviews with those who were there. i was 10 years old in 82 and hip hop changed my life! i instantly became a b boy! i`m 52 now and am still buying old school hip hop vinyl 12`s and albums every week, ive all 28 of the electro series and much, much more! ive been rapping and dj`ing in various crews, playing on pirate radio stations since 1992. i dont know how my life would have turned out without hip hop in it! subscribed! x

Good interview mate. James Hamilton's reviews in Record Mirror were great and I got a lot of my records through his recommendations. All the BPM's listed and his descriptions of the tracks, "Bubbling, Twittery" etc etc!

Fantastic effort for inviting a proper legend to your shows. Looking forward to listening to Mr. Wilson giving his own insights. ELECTRO was my proper first love and still deeply in love with it. The unsung music hero of both the Hip Hop and Electronic scenes in my opinion. If it wasn't for Electro, there's a chance that I probably wouldn't have got into early House music, Acid House or Techno either :)

@@gazsmash That's really nice of you to say so mate. My contributions are very sporadic and don't take it as seriously as a lot of guys / girls out there. If had more time I'd put much more effort into it. It's just a quick random snapshot of memorabilia for me. Appreciated all the same :)

@@allcitytaxitalkshow9680 Well, it's great that you had the foresight to invite Greg in the first place. The discussion didn't disappoint. Could listen to loads more, I bet Greg has even more stories, some maybe he himself has forgotten :) Once again, thanks for taking the time to upload these interviews. P.S. Loved the Mr. C interview as well, by the way. Always was a character. Will be commenting on that one in due course. Another scenester which came through the Electro ranks. Electro for life!

I think the Lorraine Chase track was probably supposed to be a song but ended up that way because she couldn't sing, like Telly Savalas doing If, or even back to Rex Harrison etc.
