those of you who were't there at the DMC would find it hard to understand the judges' decisions, but these judges are not looking for anything objective or compositive elements, they see what DJs try to achieve, and judges catch the essence of the DJ's intention, and get to appreciate it. Plus what the sounds you are hearing on this KZbin version is very very different from what we heard that evening at HMV Forum. Seriously, the judges were giving standing ovations after the performance.
It's Amaziiiiing!! Congrat DJ Izoh!! Living legend in Japan!!

There are actually some really sick patterns in Izoh's routine and some transitions between juggles to scratches to bodytricks that are really difficult to do. The part where he triggers the hihats off serato while manipulating the pitch over two decks has never been done in dmc before either. his music choice isn't everyone's cup of tea (myself included) but there are some tight points in this set that are really impressive.

You're all entitled to your opinions and not everyone will ever agree when it's about an art and music.But do me a favour guys, respect the standard he's reached, respect the 2000 people who gave him a stranding ovation at the 2012 finals.You have no idea how much these world champions put into their set but it is more than you would ever commit to, which is why they are kings and you are moaning buggers! DMC World hey DMC what are the rules regarding the use of fx and the loop recorder in the main battle, I now I can use them for the online battles but can I use them at the proper event? I tend to make proper sounding tracks using techniques these days and to be fair it time the sound changed a bit, people always say they cant dance to what we do maybe its time we made them dance, after all the birth of the artform was about making people dance

I think many people are arguing because they don't necessarily understand what they like or dislike in this routine. I think it has its pros and cons, honestly it's not my cup of tea but that doesn't mean it isn't a difficult routine to perform and for people that aren't satisfied with izoh's routine then practice and participate in these competitions. We can moan and complain but it won't change anything.

naoki20002 Because even with all of todays tech help this dude still manages to be sloppy as fuck ... because check out " dream team" 1993 for example : did all the stuff this guy is doing 22 years ago without a mac and with a WAY shittier mixer . Or yeah indeed check dj craze , cash money , a-track , plus one and so many more ... even better : look at dj rafik and how just about everyone wants to sound like him ever since ...
@chrisallistar80079 жыл бұрын
wayne marshall I agree those dj's are dope in their own respect but for the first time these kids and some vets are getting it. That is hip hop is dead and it's not what the kids listen to. If any dj want to be relevant then he has to transcend the same SH$T. These guys have so watch out old timer the kids rule.
@rjcharlie9 жыл бұрын
naoki20002 I think people that don't dig this are "traditionalists". I also grew up in the '80s-'90s and the DJ's of those times are legendary as they created the foundation of hip hop & turntablism. My personal favourite is still the older or traditional turntablism but what we see here is the modern and we cannot really blame these young kids. The music is different, the technology is different and the rules in the DMC are different. Now they allow digital technology, a big difference from using only vinyl records. I do not think hip hop is dead but rather "down". I think the spirit of hip hop will always survive and the real hip hop will come back.

It's not quite the same with people having all their samples lined up on a custom pressing or serato/traktor, part of the charm was having hunted for records and switching them at lightning speed! Turntablism is still impressive, but somehow doesn't feel authentic

that's why I would separate digital DMC from analog.. the essence of DMC championship was to change wax, cue them fast, scratch, beatjuggle.. I'm not saying this dude is garbage, but serato makes it way easier. serato/traktor is good for live performances for dj's who plays in clubs, parties, so they have more creativity.
@djimma50806 жыл бұрын
I have thought about using DVS in the classical way and buy a ton of control vinyl and sticker marking each one for specific tracks, and then when you change the vinyl it changes the tracks and if your in absolute mode the sticker will give you the cue point you need,

FYI: I started collecting vinyl in '83 at age 10. Got my first set of realistic turntables & mixer from radio shack at 15. Got my first & only pair of 1200s in '94. I'm still rockin 'em. I got about 6k rekkids. I got the serato program but don't use it. Never even installed it. Still do mixtapes using my tascam 4-track. I tried DMC back in the day and never got past the prelims, both times, not ashamed of that cuz the comp was steep... p-trix, swift rock, tropic, mike c, etc..

Why so much hate? He ticked so many boxes for this competition it's not funny, even being a little sloppy the creativity and diversity of a set was there, he mixed, scratched, juggled, played with frequencies, played with tempo and pitch, you gotta be kidding me if you don't think this is some damn good shit right here.
@pandafresh12 жыл бұрын
not all DJs need to sound the same, not sure why everyone is hating on him for not "using the classics" you aren't going to like everyone, that doesn't make them bad....
