I appreciate the thinking behind this idea, but I can't help but feel that the rawness and grit was what made it exciting in the first place. This just sounds too too clean to my ears, and lacks the vibe and feel of the OG 'Death Mix' recording that we all grew up on. The fact that it was distorted, blown out, reverberated within an inch of it's life and sounding super dusted is one of the main things I love about it. In a way, I think it sounds perfectly NYC and of the era from which it sprang forth. Just my opinion - of course.

This is really, really cool and sounds great. I’m assuming each track is an original remix. Or did you reconstruct the backing tracks to reflect the original ones for each song? Either way, again, sounds great.

Thank you .. There's a multitude of audio tools which can extract acapellas. I think they would be useful for archiving & restoring the Hip Hop events & parties from 1977 -1983 which were only available on tape. . The Paul Winley death mix LP is a very poor 2nd or 3rd generation cassette tape to vinyl transfer recording of an Old School Hip Hop event with Dj Jazzy Jay ,Red alert & the Zulu Nation. There's some history behind it so I used it for a restoration project where I investigated what was possible with those tools.I used the same breaks in the track list as the original bootlegged mix but reconstructed , re-arranged & remixed them. It's a 21st century version of what they used to do on the Live convention 81 mix tapes. It's frustrating because I'm not selling anything.But need access or info on the original uncompressed audio from that era .Ive contacted so many old school bloggers , Universities since April & no one has responded or their accounts are inactive.
