Yes! DJ's need to use their EQ's! I've used the EQ's and loops to get two songs that are completely different from each other (tempo, key, genre) and was very surprised how much smoother a mix can be. Love the videos Luke!

This video is a gold mine for DJ's. I always leave the color fx set to "filter" as I don't like messing up my EQ settings

I don't understand if Luke is saying tracks are mastered at the perfect eq AND recommends leaving the knobs in the middle during the song, why are DJs like Fedde touching eq knobs NON-STOP for an hour during their sets?
@laidbackluke3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha I know good point! That's a common thing a lot of DJs do and actually sometimes it's similar to a reflex like touching your nose when you speak, or maybe like running your hands through your hair when you speak. These are inbuilt type of DJ reflexes that have snuck in throughout the years but don't necessarily add up to the sound.

Dave, can I ask you something? I hope you don't get me wrong, and regardless of your answer, I will work for you starting on April 5th without fail. This year it started with great difficulty, I lost the job I had, and some family problems in Brazil, and I would like to know if it is possible for you to increase the amount we agreed on a little more. As I said before, nothing changes regardless of your answer, but I believe that asking is okay. Thank you in advance and see you soon.

that denon dj looks great, too bad we're somewhat forced to go with pioneer for "industry standard" in clubs. would not be comfortable to carry it with you everywhere, and not advisable to constantly switch between those two depending on the venue availability.

Really good vlog. Maybe it is what you know or how it’s taught in the Netherlands (language difference) but if it helps. “I will teach you-“ over “I will explain you-“. I have gotten creative with my mixes, and using the EQs and filters. Mainly for vocals, trying to accentuate the mids and using the high pass filter gets rid of more of the other frequencies so it sits better in the mix. I tend to use more mid eqs for vocals on top of the tracks i’m mixing on. Are you saying it would be better to just use the gain? Thanks!

Techno djs in 90s will be like..."what do you think, you cant eq to the right" That was most over used/abused dj "trick" they/we used... bass eq to minus whille mid to the max ...For half a bar or a bar,just before the drop...But back then we haven had any efexts on mixers etc..
