Simplicity is sometimes the key. Thats why this dude is successful, WHO CARES if it took zero skill or whatever else ppl are gonna say, difference is, he created the track and we didn't. He's been on the top 100s and top 10 multiple times... Instead of criticizing this dude, we should use it as motivation (aspiring producers/beat makers) to go and strive even harder to make music.. *Food For Thought*
@AQGOAT24
@AQGOAT24 10 жыл бұрын
I actually think being simple is very difficult to do. I mean The Neptunes have fairly simplistic beats. The key is they figured it out not any of us.
@williamopere
@williamopere 10 жыл бұрын
AQGOAT24 Pharrell knows how to make a whole song tho, not just a beat. On the surface his beats may seem simple with his keys and gat riffs but he has bridges and other shit in his songs that makes them more complete than todays repetitive beats
@nlee4566
@nlee4566 10 жыл бұрын
AQGOAT24 That's true. Simplistic is actually genius for a producer theses days but to extent. Plus u want the Beat to fit the artis. Mustard has a few but if u seriously take 5 of his radio hits play them back too back, they all just sound the same with a few differences. As a new a producer it's not always safe to rely on a specific structure, especially when u have the popular sound. Even pharell Said he and chad had to change a lot in 2001 because artist and fans complained they were using the same sound over and over with no elements.

Nick Lee Exactly. I'm not saying "hey, simples the way to go, dont ever change it" nah but as of right now, Simple beat patterns with 808's and drops, is what the people want right now, something to dance to, its whats playing in the clubs. Obviously, theres gonna come a time when another sound/pattern of music will come, and producers will have to change it up again.

We need more vidoes like this because hip hop itself is about the beat of the song, beat makers, producers, djs they are the ones that are making the music itself.The foundation of hip hop is the dj. The dj was the band and than the rapper came into play.The true essence of hip hop is the dj or beat maker.
@Djatrak03
@Djatrak03 10 жыл бұрын
Sooooooo misinformed. Hip Hop is comprised of a lot more than " the beat of the song, beat makers, producers, djs..." Do some homework before spreading this ridiculousness. The dj and breakin came at the same time...then rap my friend.

Dude, you are a Genius.. I'm a fan of hiphop in general, but my favorite is west coast music like this, reminds me of Dre back in the day... Ratchet music is pretty much ruling hiphop/pop anyway, which proves its effectiveness.. & More than just the beats, its the hooks & sonic processing of the vocals, which u can hear on a track like Omarions "post to be"..

I did reproduce this one. Lately I always produce DJ Mustard type of beats. Actually I reproduce that beat because I tryna learn something from his music because his music really can be accepted and sounds relaxed. I like his beats because I can feel the chill in his beat. Just a simple beat and it got the oldschool feels in it. That's why I keep listening to DJ Mustard's musics so that I can get new idea on his music maybe sometime it sounds the same on the kick, snare, snap, breakdown, clap or anything.

I see a lot of people talking about how simple it is to make. But if thats the case everyone would be the hottest producer out making crazy cash. We wouldnt even be sitting her posting about this shit. If you can take something and make a hit out of it.. Thats all that matters at the end of the day. That alone takes having a skill. You need to have an ear and know how to put the pieces of the puzzle together and know when something is starting to sound repetitive an dull. Much respect to Dj Mustard, he is killing the game right now.

Go ahead and try it. It might not work. I am pretty sure people have tried making simple beats before Mustard, but none of them has got famous. I think what really makes him a genius is WHICH simple sounds to use. If you copy him, it won't work because they'll see nothing special in you and even if they do, Mustard will just create a new style.

Dude makes hits, but to me, he lacks creativity and as a producer myself, thats what inspires me, someone like pharrell, kanye and ryan leslie. They come out with different shit all the type. Mustard seems like all he care about is the money " i got a 30k watch on my wrist" and not about the art of music, cause he keep putting out the same beat. I cant wait until his style is over with cause his music is played out, once his trend is over he wont be able to stay hot cause he's too limited with his sounds. At least Mike Will is somewhat versatile.

this guy is everywhere. ive listen to all his music. watching this guys radio interviews. he comes off a little "slow" and honestly some people just are not very sociable. and when it comes to making good music. who the fuck cares if he's good with his words. the man is a genius in the booth and on the keyboard. period. fuck people that diss him because he's not good at talking to people. he speaks through his music. much love.

haha yeah I figured, honestly I smoke everyday, I live in Denver Colorado where u can buy an ounce for $80. if I was him I probably wouldn't smoke before an interview like that. he couldn't even remember some peoples names witch im sure they would have appreciated the shout out. then again. hes making money so who really cares.

So basically YG added nothing. The beat was already done. The hook was written by Lil Wayne and even the idea to use Lil Wayne's hook wasn't YG's. He got lucky that he fell into that song and had success with it. His rhymes were definitely not what made it a hit.

Exactly dude. I'm from the Bay and I don't get offended that Dj Mustard sounds like us. It's the fucking west coast, the Bay and LA are like brother and sister. We feed off each other, it's not just one sound. The south has a signature sound, the east coast have a signature sound, and the west coast have a signature sound. People need to chill.
