Simplicity is sometimes the key. Thats why this dude is successful, WHO CARES if it took zero skill or whatever else ppl are gonna say, difference is, he created the track and we didn't. He's been on the top 100s and top 10 multiple times... Instead of criticizing this dude, we should use it as motivation (aspiring producers/beat makers) to go and strive even harder to make music.. *Food For Thought*
@AQGOAT2410 жыл бұрын
I actually think being simple is very difficult to do. I mean The Neptunes have fairly simplistic beats. The key is they figured it out not any of us.
@williamopere10 жыл бұрын
AQGOAT24 Pharrell knows how to make a whole song tho, not just a beat. On the surface his beats may seem simple with his keys and gat riffs but he has bridges and other shit in his songs that makes them more complete than todays repetitive beats
@nlee456610 жыл бұрын
AQGOAT24 That's true. Simplistic is actually genius for a producer theses days but to extent. Plus u want the Beat to fit the artis. Mustard has a few but if u seriously take 5 of his radio hits play them back too back, they all just sound the same with a few differences. As a new a producer it's not always safe to rely on a specific structure, especially when u have the popular sound. Even pharell Said he and chad had to change a lot in 2001 because artist and fans complained they were using the same sound over and over with no elements.

***** its evident you're missing the point I'm making.
@daledock25310 жыл бұрын
Nick Lee Exactly. I'm not saying "hey, simples the way to go, dont ever change it" nah but as of right now, Simple beat patterns with 808's and drops, is what the people want right now, something to dance to, its whats playing in the clubs. Obviously, theres gonna come a time when another sound/pattern of music will come, and producers will have to change it up again.

We need more vidoes like this because hip hop itself is about the beat of the song, beat makers, producers, djs they are the ones that are making the music itself.The foundation of hip hop is the dj. The dj was the band and than the rapper came into play.The true essence of hip hop is the dj or beat maker.

I did reproduce this one. Lately I always produce DJ Mustard type of beats. Actually I reproduce that beat because I tryna learn something from his music because his music really can be accepted and sounds relaxed. I like his beats because I can feel the chill in his beat. Just a simple beat and it got the oldschool feels in it. That's why I keep listening to DJ Mustard's musics so that I can get new idea on his music maybe sometime it sounds the same on the kick, snare, snap, breakdown, clap or anything.

Dude makes hits, but to me, he lacks creativity and as a producer myself, thats what inspires me, someone like pharrell, kanye and ryan leslie. They come out with different shit all the type. Mustard seems like all he care about is the money " i got a 30k watch on my wrist" and not about the art of music, cause he keep putting out the same beat. I cant wait until his style is over with cause his music is played out, once his trend is over he wont be able to stay hot cause he's too limited with his sounds.
