Let me remind you all that in-universe this collaboration was IMPROV'D. ON ALL SIDES. The fact that Callie and Marie were able to play off Octavio's beats so perfectly with absolutely zero verbal or visual communication is actually _super_ impressive from a technical standpoint, let alone Shiver and Frye and Big Man, two of whom would barely even know that Octavio _existed._ Also, maybe this is a bit headcanon-y, but I like how Shiver and Frye knew the chorus by heart, but Callie and Marie sang the first verse, almost like they were teaching it to Deep Cut mid-performance. Just because big man is mostly absent from the vocals doesn't mean he puts in less effort. He writes the lyrics for most of Deep Cut's songs and acts as an accent vocalist, as well as background dancer in their preformances. I haven't seen any of 3's story at this point (Don't own the game and haven't watched anyone play through it), but this is probably my favorite version of Calamari Inkantation to date. It's SO good! Also, this is pretty interesting. I'm not surprised Big Man had the least usage throughout since he seems to fill a more background-vocals roles (Not that I've really listened to any of the OST beyond this one song. Lol), but I'm genuinely surprised how much more present Deep Cut overall was over Callie and Marie. It's an interesting choice, tho I assume it's cause they're the new group, so it makes sense. (That being said, for the name "3MIX," its weird to me that Pearl and Marina are nowhere to be heard here. :P)

One of my favorite little details is that, at 2:01, it plays a few "Power Egg Obtained" sound effects. And seeing as how the only way to get rid of Fuzz Balls is powering Small Fry with Power Eggs, I like to imagine that Huge Fry is absorbing Power Eggs to beat sir big bear guy thingy.

After hearing the Splatfest solos, I can now hear the Big Man parts before that I thought weren't his. (Example would be at 1:21 where Callie does her lines, Big Man has his back-up vocals that he does for his solo song.) All those cheering parts where I got that Pokemon Sword/Shield vibes in the song were his parts. So while he technically isn't singing, it's his back-up vocals that pair well in those parts.

Something that I've noticed is that some parts of the song don't match the given lyrics, like some words have different sounds. Interestingly, this only seems to be during Deep Cut's part - Callie and Marie sing the normal lyrics. Similarly, the Calamari Inkantation part of Wave Goodbye also follows the normal lyrics (albeit a bit less in the second refrain). But this implies that Deep Cut's lyrics are probably their own, something they wrote just for this song. That combined with their diverse cultural influences makes their part super cool!

Everyone complaining that Big Man doesn't sing enough and, like, I agree, but it's not like he has no presence at all. All of the background singing and whistles heard throughout the song are ripped straight from his solo song for the first half of Splatfest! Even the part he sings during the chorus is reminicent of the second half of said solo, though not identical. Def makes up for Anarchy Rainbow not featuring nearly as many elements from his solo as it does from the other 2 Deep Cut members.

This video reveals two things to me. 1: Frye's personality on the news broadcast isn't a façade, she literally cannot contain her energy when she gets excited.
