The 57th in my Retro Goa Explorations series of videos in which I present some of my favourite 'Goa Trance' tracks from the '90s.
In this series, I go back to my first experiences in the Goa Trance electronic dance music movement starting in late 1994, drawing upon my recollections of hearing specific music at certain events and using my classical music background explore the elements that I believe make these tracks so great.
We are now into music I first encountered in the '96-97 season, starting in September 1996, and this track comes from one of the first compilation CDs I bought after moving to London that month: Insect-A-Traction by Wicked Wasp... according to the CD, but on the vinyl the project name was Shanti Druid. And as the video reveals, one key musician was not credited on the CD although they were on the vinyl. After I share some of these details, I present my observations while playing the track; I then give a few closing comments before presenting the track on its own without any commentary.
I played this sorely overlooked track in Ottawa, Canada in November 2022:
