DJ Starfleet is the latest project by composer and producer Daniel Casares. After being introduced to broken beat through the legendary album Theme For A Broken Soul by DJ Rels, Daniel got to work on these 5 tracks.
The EP track names refer to cities and places that the artist has visited in recent times. The outing showcases a somewhat minimalist approach to jazztronica and acid house, creating playful and evoking soundscapes as well as probing improvisations on synth and alto sax that push the EP towards jazzier territory. Some tracks feature ambiguous harmony or poly-chords, making for strange yet grounded sonorities.
