You are not wrong - the original does not have the repetition of "Hark the Herald" - this was Home Free's arrangement, and it was completely stunning. This has always been one of my favorite Christmas carols, but I've always heard it in the choir/congregation-singing-a-hymn style. This version has such such joy and triumph, it brought tears to my eyes. This actually is not the first Home Free song to do that. I am immediately going to add this version to my Christmas play list - and probably listen to it all year 'round. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Wow...wow this is beautiful. Home Free do so SO well with their more gospel-type music which is basically... country-fied hymns. Gospel is such a beautiful blend of the two and I know that's why Home Free are so good at this sort of stuff

For me, the most familiar version of this song starts with, "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!" But regarding Home Free's creative arrangement, don't forget what they did with Do You Hear What I Hear. I love it when they tear down and rebuild. 🎅🎄😇

Ben Bram did a very clever arrangement of this - the repeated Hark the Heralds at the beginning are him, not the standard version.

Yeah he repeated it in the ptx arrangement too that he did. And of course, it also has quite the percussion part. They never did a music video for that one though.

I loved it too as it was different and yet beautiful. Bastien showing off a little of “Austin” type riffs. Adam’s clapping was great! Loved the scenery too! Good one DJ! Wait til you see Santa Claus is coming to Town. It’s hilarious!

Hark the Herald Angels Sing should never be a dirge or sung slowly. It is triumphant and exultant. Home Free have arranged it to make it their own but the sense of joy is spot on for the original. Oh, and drums is highly appropriate too! Keep the reactions coming DJ ❤

Chance interchanges with Tim on bass singing. You can see it in American Pie. Chance sings bass when Tim solos then goes back to baritone after Tim finishes. He also demonstrates his bass on Mayday where Tim is singing tenor, going into deep bass on his solo.

From first time hearing this, had such a 'pop' feel it ceased to be the 'traditional' holiday song. Played it several times cuz it's a fun version that makes you want to move. When Bastien (bass TEEN) first joined HF, many felt his voice was too similar to Rob's but with each new release he seems to be coming into his own unique sound.

This is a very well arranged song, and they put a lot of their own spin on it. I have to say I like the more up beat rhythm of this one. If you haven't yet seen their version of "Santa Clause is coming to town", YOU MUST see it. It is Hilarious !! So much fun and crazy. 😆😆 You have to do it !!!!

The "Carols by candlelight" very formal presentation would be a PTX version. HF's slightly unexpected chord progressions would never fit in that formal setting. And it is all the better for that.
