Since Geoff’s wife, Kathy, is losing her hearing, they add captions to almost all of their songs. Geoff says “pity my knees,” which is in the original lyrics.

I did not know that about Kathy. That's got to be heartwrenching for both of them. I hope she gets to hear their son with an adult voice before it fully goes so she can hear him as a man.

@, Geoff has a video on his channel where they talk about her hearing loss. My ex-wife is deaf, and we were married for 25 years, so I’ve known many deaf people. There are lots of different kinds of deafness, like my ex’s maid of honor whose hearing is shifted such that she can hear dog whistles. I knew one woman who was a pianist, and lost the ability to hear any note below middle C. My college English teacher woke up one morning while planning a sabbatical to Europe totally deaf in one ear, then woke up one morning in Europe totally deaf in both ears and hadn’t heard a sound since. She told the class she had gone to airports trying to hear planes taking off directly overhead before adjusting to her deafness. ASI recall from their video, Kathy’s hearing scrambles sounds to different frequencies, so she can hear but everything sounds weird.

I think Louis Armstrong who did this in 1952 really likes J None and as a result from heaven he loaned his voice to J None for the last quarter of the song. I was 6 in 1957 and I remember hearing this on the radio.

I first heard this song from Harry Connick Jr and shortly thereafter by the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Because it was so unusual I did a little research to figure out where this was all my life and discovered that Louis Armstrong did it. I don’t think he would’ve recognized it the way that these guys did it😂. I really enjoyed the Satchmo improv that J did at the end. It’s a nice tribute to the original artist. They had a lot of fun with this one which is a bit of a tribute to camaraderie and friendship and their willingness to share with all of us. They used a robotic arm camera for this so the camera moved and they just watched where the camera was that’s why they’re always looking at us as they sing. They did this song several years ago on their album called Peppermint Winter and it’s a different vibe. Maybe because I first heard it from Harry Connick Jr, but I’ve always thought this sounded like a New Orleans sound song and this really gives me that same feeling. I have watched this many many times and I just realized that during the “running and running he’s coming to get you” section all the guys are reaching for J and it reminded me that they were all after him in Thriller as well. Coincidence?🤔

'Zat You, Santa Claus? was written (music and lyrics) by Jack Fox in 1921. It was published in December 1953 by Broude Bros. As you noted, Louis Armstrong and The Commanders recorded it on October 22, 1953 and released in December 1953 on Decca Records. The song was also covered in later years by such artist as Bing Crosby , Benny Green , Rebecca Kilgore , Buster Poindexter , Harry Connick, Jr. and René Marie (with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis). Garth Brooks performed the song in the film, Just Call Me Santa (2001). VoicePlay utilized a robotic camera system (Cinebot Mini), programmed to coordinate with the music and Eli's lighting cues, so the camera shots could be precisely repeated, allowing for the quick editing, shifting the group into different positions. Layne helmed this video and Cyndi Stein, his wife, was in charge of set dressing and costuming. Matthew “Bucky” Buckner provided Santa's hands and Eli was Santa's voice. That's J. hitting the highest note in the last chord on "you." By the way, the couch is named Bethany.
