Turns out we dont actually need our own authenticate function. In the settings you can just leave it as: AUTHENTICATION_BACKENDS = [ # 'users.authback.EmailBackend', "django.contrib.auth.backends.ModelBackend", # this line fixed my problem ] Im also adressing this in video number 11 so feel free to just follow along ;)

@@jowanhajmahmoud7864 you dont need to handle that. Knox takes care of expiration of tokens (you can set an interval in your settings). When the token is invalid I send the user to the login page to login again. I think you can also let it auto refresh if you want.
