How close you are with a child comes with age, I am closer with my eldest now than I was this time last year, since our last family holiday and being together consistently for 3 weeks made us grow and this pandemic as increased it. With my youngest, she's all for me so we are closer in general. She was my handbag, everywhere I went she was there and wouldn't go to anyone else apart from her dad. I didn't put her into childcare until she was 1 whereas my eldest was in part time nursery from 3/4 months in preparation to get back to work.

I don't agree with a child calling another man dad if they know their dad. but i agree if it happens a dad has to look into themselves and do better.
