Ok. True story. I had a room mate in college (1990s). I went on spring break to Puerto Rico and he owed me money for rent that I desperately needed for the trip but he didn’t have it. I was in charge of the cable so I put parental blocks on all the channels except for the Spanish channels. My roommate was the whitest guy ever (I’m PRcan). When I got back I caught him on the sofa glued to the TV. He got addicted to these shows not knowing a lick of Spanish.

I was shown this in 2011 while travelling through Central and South America for 9 months. I did a homestay in Nicaragua and a month of Spanish lessons; sadly, my Spanish remained pretty poor. We passed this around on the "gringo" trail while travelling for a relatable laugh; 12 years later, it's still funny! I spent the last 10 years living in Germany, speaking German, so my Spanish isn't much better, but this still gets me :)
