The thing that surprised me when I started learning to play my djembe was that African drumming is done as a group and the djembe's voice is just one part of a whole. This video demonstrates that beautifully. The solo part at the beginning is great, but when the 2 join together there is so much more energy. Music is always the best when I can join other people and encourage and be inspired by the group. You bring beautiful sounds and display a beautiful friendship. Thanks so much for sharing.

@@lobodarbuko my book is on the Neuroscience of rhym on the brain and I play frame tambourine nd Djembe just fine Thankyou. I focussed on 'trance' monotonous rhythm, one hand paradiddle rhythms and sacred sound not traditional African and I am endorsed by Mamady Keita and many other percussionists to offer my gift in 'drum therapy'. Thanks for watching nd maybe you should write your own book on whatever y wish, instead of judging people's personal approach or discovery of things. Rhythm does not belong to Djembe. The women played frame drum as priestesses way before djembe! Much love to you brother. Keep the love.

Divine Goddesses ! When you come together as a union of heart and soul magic takes place between you. Like wow. The woman on the right shifted something so beautifully when joined by the woman on her left. It was like something was missing prior, not on a technical level, it was more like her heart was longing for the fire that fuels her spirit. Together you become the same being. One soul, one heartbeat and together you speak a language of your own. As if you've traveled to earth together from another solar system. There's a very deep, moving and incredibly powerful energy you generate together. Thank you so much for sharing. Like WOW you have just become my female role models. Stunning!! Grounded centred women. The world need more of you. I salute both your souls. Thank you 🙏 I'm in tears but not of sadness it's real beauty. True soul.

This video is awesome. You both look like you're having so much fun. I just bought my first Djembe (16'') and was looking for videos of people playing so that I could learn how to play more. One of my drum instructors (years ago) had a Djembe and she let me play with it a few times and I absolutely loved it--6 years later I finally had the opportunity to get one myself. Watching this video made me so happy. Thank you for sharing!

The words that all of THIS that you ARE right here, right now, about an an hour ago when you guys showed up at my window and I watched you through it the first time, flowed out of me in an order and a cadence that I have NEVER EXPERIENCED. They were all new to me entirely, I had NEVER sought them in the place that I was, because I had never been there before. I am a WRITER, a Wordsmyther I am an ORATOR.. I KNOW BETTER This magic was SO PURE it actually rendered me AGAPE, which is, within itself...... fucking MANNA. I left myself wide open because I was intoxicated with the elixir it mixed within me, the chemistry that experiencing you physiologically released into my system was one of the BEST highs I have EVER HAD.. LISTEN DO YOU HEAR THAT?! WHAT I AM SAYING!? Do you know how POWERFUL this is!? YOU TWO, EVOKED BIG, BIG, MAGIC WITHIN MY BEING... I HAVE BEEN SEEKING THAT ELIXIR FOR 36 YEARS.. ON ALL I KNOW AND LOVE I AM SPEAKING FROM THE CENTER OF MY BEING, WITH ABSOLUTE TRUTH. I MEAN..WOW. The words that I found together in the place I had never been, and the order I placed them amongst one another, was an entirely new algorithm I had never worked with before, and what I had found was a way to share what you had given me, the words would have enlightened you with experiencing yourselves what you had given me, that elixir, it was still within me, the ratio, and I had it almost in its entirety, and I know better than to EVER let my guard down to the djinn.. I tripped the alarm because my frequency surged and exceeded my cloaking device and I am usually hyper vigilant about such things for this very reason, because I gave myself to it entirely, with all of my senses it was a moment I will NEVER forget. The sentinels were able to lock on to my location, and they WHOMPED me, crashed my laptop with a blue screen, and I sat there instantly experiencing the antithesis of what I had just been immersed iN. It was a hard come down, instantly, the absence of THOSE words, are a deficit (metaphorishly) I so wanted to be able to share with you the magnitude of the exchange, because YOU GUYS, LEVELED UP ON THAT ONE, STRAIGHT UP. I look forward to the opportunity some day to review that footage, the look on my face, MY GOD, I felt it when I got blue screen, because it was frozen on my face, which was what made it such an epic shot from the opposition.. I am a drummer, at gatherings, everyone used to know me as 'drummer chic' because I can DRUM, but do you know, I know NO SONG, I know it when I am playing it, because of the morphic resonance that occurs between us all when we are in a circle and can HIVE, it was easier as well because my drum was BOSS bass, so when form mattered with the musicians I was playing with, I was able to just get out of my own way and delivered. I can play the entire skin though, with rhythms and beats that flow from me and I capture the pattern and can repeat it, and insert other patterns. Hope Medford is the only Woman I have ever seen that can PLAY like I KNOW I can play if I had studied in Africa for 10 years, there is A LOT more to it than just study, it is a certain something that one must possess within themselves, we are a rare breed indeed. I have attempted to learn off of you tube watching tutorials, it is not an effective tool for my brain to retain it. I try to hard and the opposite of what I hope to accomplish happens. Hearing a song playing out, my drummer picks it up effortlessly, if I TRY to think ahead and remind myself to remember , I lose it. I will also lose it in a few hours if asked to resume it on my own without the group. I am CEREBRAL though, and know my mind, I just have never been TAUGHT. I have no idea how I have NEVER come across you guys before, I thought I had looked everywhere. Anyway, I laughed through tears that tasted both nostalgic and bittersweet, I felt euphoric knowing you are HERE, NOW, in these days that have just taken the turn Thank you, NAMASTE ANAM CARA.. As the species having arrived at the APEX last week having reached the point of no return with the 60% insect extinction level and the oceans are so imbalanced and dying, 600 dolphins washed up on the coast of France. I have waited 19 years to get this show on the road, and I booked an impromptu trip to Kauai for my 6 year old and I. It is time to go HOME, Mama Gaia is calling us, can you come? I KNOW we will sit and play together..That is what that elixir was telling me, we know one another from the before, I know that song, I know both of you and my heart both rejoiced at knowing you ARE HERE, and grieved at the space between as well. thank you for the MEDICINE SISTER.. MY GOD, SO MUCH LOVE. LISTEN TO WHAT IS UPON THE WIND, FEEL WHAT IS STIRRING WITHIN YOU.. IT IS TIME. FOR REAL...CAN YOU COME? CAN YOU GET THERE? OUR WORLDWIDE TRIBE IS EN ROUTE, LISTEN TO HER, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN, EXTEND OUT INTO THE PACIFIC, AND HEAR HER. I HAVE PHENOMENAL ACCOMMODATIONS AND NETWORK. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO, IS GET THERE. MESSAGE ME IF YOU RECEIVE BOTH TRANSMISSIONS, MINE AND HERS. NAMASTE Ethierri

Beautiful - my favorite djembe video on KZbin so far. If someone can listen to this without moving some body part to the beat, they must be dead. :-) Thanks for uploading!

Most probably don't realize what they just listened to. It's a story. A beautiful one at that. My interpretation might be different from others. It really brought tears to my eyes.

@@Chris-wq3pe In my view, your comment is demonstrating a variation of the precise principal of criticism which you have admonished semesterkatten for. How bizzare.
