Without a doubt they never would. Same can never be said for the 2- and 4-car R46 train sets too

People are going to say “Those Trains Are From The 1960s, Can’t Be With That Stainless Steel Look”. Some rail fans who are older remember when the R32s were brand new and how modern and nice looking they were with that shiny silver stainless steel look on the exterior in 1964 when they were first introduced to the NYC Subway which earned them the nickname “Brightliners”. They look in good condition for subway cars built in the early 60s. Some of them even remember their first ride on a shiny new R-32 N train in the summer of 1965.

They look in such good shape they could have ran another 60 years

A little clean up and TLC the would run better than anything out there today.

@@OA8376 the last time I was in NYC I rode the 32’s on the C and they ran just fine, no worse than anything else in the fleet. Frankly the lighting is better in the older trains it’s not that harsh white light and white walls that all the new trains have for some reason

God the R32's will be sorely missed, Is it just me but they also felt that they had much more room than newer cars do.

Thats probably partially placebo and parcially due to it having straight walls

@@TSgotstolengoddamm that's an interesting theory and probably true honestly, but I'd ride these trains to and from queens for high school on the J line and on the C line but I always felt there was so much room on them.

Those trains don’t look 60 years old. They look in good condition except for some dirt, rust and graffiti. I remember riding them on the C train when I was little. Going to miss them dearly. 😢 R.I.P 1964-2022, 58 YEARS!!! They originally had a 35-year service life, but exceeded that by another two decades. Also, amazing that they outlasted their cousins, the St. Louis built R38s, that were constructed after the R32s but retired before them 13 years earlier in 2009. Also what’s amazing is that these trains, slightly younger than the R30s, would remain in service until another three decades after they were retired in 1993. They also outlasted similar looking train models during the 60s and 70s such as the R38, R40, R42, R44 and R46 trains.

If these are being towed then they are being kicked out for sure. At least many have been kept for future fan trips.

OK so they go down Culver and back up West End. Question is do they go through Stillwell Av or do they do a complex tour through Av X and CI Yards and reemerge at Bay 50? \m/
