Pretty impressive stuff, image stabilization sure has come a long way on these action cams! which mode did you think works best for this kind of POV footage?

Rocksteady +

This is actually the best test I have seen with different stabilizations, and actually first time I have seen the difference between RS and RS+ I will post this on dji forum to show rest of the OA3 people.

Thank you! That's awesome to hear you found it useful. I recorded this to test purely for myself, but as I was reviewing the footage I thought "I should probably just throw this up on youtube, it might be helpful to others" -and I'm happy to hear it was indeed helpful for someone :)

I guess the second RS section is RS+, right? I cannot really tell the difference, I wonder how it's enhanced.
@MattPula Жыл бұрын
Each clip is labeled what mode I'm using in the corner of the video - I believe RS+ is a slightly tighter crop of the image, so not as much FOV.

@@MattPula Just FYI the labels on the KZbin player say "RockSteady" for both clips, I think that's why he was confused (the labels in the video itself are slightly covered by the KZbin player) 🙂
@MattPula6 ай бұрын
@@jamie.goodson Ah, I see that now, thanks for pointing that out - for some reason even though I had the "+" in the description it doesn't show it in the chapter. I changed it to say "Rocksteady Plus" now. Not sure what you mean about the labels in the video itself - they're fully visible in all clips for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@MattPula Ah that's weird, thanks for updating for us! 🙂 Re the labels in the video itself - I mean that the KZbin video player partially covers the text in the video when you're not watching in full screen and have your mouse hovering over the video (to select a different time). Nothing you can do about it of course, just might explain why the guy above didn't see the labels at first because maybe they were skipping through the video to select a different chapter. Hope that makes sense!

What is the difference between horizon steady and horizon balancing? They look the same thing ...😮
@MattPula Жыл бұрын
The horizon modes lock the image to earth's horizon - that said, I don't actually know what the differences are between the two modes lol.
@Morgan-Neely Жыл бұрын
Horizon balancing says up to 45 degrees, where as Horizon Steady is the full tilt Horizon always level

I don't understand, I have an OA3 and just with Rocksteady is perfectly stable, but in your video it looks like is not stabilizing at all...
@MattPula Жыл бұрын
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ are you testing it in a similar way? Rocksteady looks pretty good for me 90% of the time, and I've actually switched to using it as my default - but on a chest mount, going through rough terrain on a hardtail MTB, it gets a bit bumpy. I actually prefer it now because it better conveys how I'm feeling when going through rough stuff, while making all the smooth terrain feel extra smooth

As in the video cuts a lot? Ya, that's to show all the different modes - that's the point of the video.

@@MattPula I’m deciding between the DJI Action 4 and the GoPro Hero 12. I’ll primarily be using it on a motorcycle, and having a wide field of view is important to me. If the DJI Action 4 has more chop while stabilizing compared to the GoPro, it won’t be suitable for me. Do you have any information on this topic
@MattPula2 ай бұрын
@@mertkalkanoglu2705 Unfortunately I don't, I would google around for DJI vs GoPro FOV - I'm sure the numbers are out there for what the FOV is on both of them and their various modes. Also this was recorded with a chest mount, if you get a chin-mount for a fullface helmet you can definitely run this in RockSteady mode with the largest FOV. I've watched videos that compare the two side by side and FOV differences aren't something I typically notice - it's usually differences like image sharpness, and how they handle going from direct light to shaded areas. I'm still using this OSMO 3 with absolutely no complaints, it's been a solid camera and I have had 0 issues with it.
