DJI Action 5 Pro Review - Can You Believe the Hype?

Which one do you think is best overall? DJI's 40MP 4K sensor, or GoPro's 50MP 5.3K sensor? (Not 3.5k) 12:17

Now, spanner in the works is when you throw the Ace Pro 2 into it for similar use cases, what would win? Currently on a go pro 9 (which I'll continue to use), but looking at underslinging it on my chin when going out for a pootle in autumn. Obviously in Blighty, you'll get ridiculously variable lighting on the same ride, so given that you use it on your trumpet, which of the cameras gave you the best video overall in say moderate cloud cover with sunny spells after a shower, so you'll have reflections off the road as well as highlights in the sky. I still remember the vids I got from the original HD Hero from 15 years ago on my FireBlade, thinking they were lit.... only to find that the sun was in view, you'll just get a black dot!

Thanks for the comment. I think out of the two I had, the DJI had the better dynamic range. I noticed that when riding through a tunnel. You could see the outside while in the tunnel with the DJI. But it is all blown out with the GoPro.

@@MFT_RAW Of the various blind tests I've seen on other channels, where content is contextual and appropriate (I'm looking at MTB and Motocyclists who go into some level of detail in post), my natural gut is to also go with the DJI. That being said, being able to shoot in log is useful. If I'm using my A6400 on a gimbal or out and about with my Sigma 16, I'm usually shooting in HLG2. I've seen some reasonably good low light riding footage as well in the woods during golden hour. Would be useful having something that's just as compact as my 9, mounted on a Dango Gripper mount (underslung chin that I can just instantly clip onto any lid, or chest plate) +1 Sub too.

Nice video. Should I get this or the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 for travel vlogging . Is the flip screen really needed or can just use the front screen on the Action 5 pro?

I find the Flip screen delicate for me.

Thanks. I quite liked the front screen on the DJI. I think 8k could be overkill on the Insta360, nobody will use that. Plus is can only manage 8bit colour. But I would say wait for the insta360 reviews before buying.

GoPro is nice. But for an average guy like me I'd go to DJI Action 5 Pro for 3 reasons, longer battery life, low light capability, two OLED touch screens. That's all.
