DJI Action 5 Pro vs Pocket 3: Can’t Decide? Get Both!

I’ve made a mistake in this video. I said that the Action 5 Pro can only track you in vertical mode. However, this is not true. The tracking on the 5 Pro also works in horizontal shooting, but only in 2.7K and without D-Log M. But regardless, if tracking is important to you the Pocket 3 is still the better choice.

I actually returned my pocket 3 for the action 5. Now yes, the pocket 3 has better quality and it’s a low light beast, however it’s very fragile. Which is why returned it. I dropped it on its base while shooting BTS while shooting a wedding. I knocked the motors in the gimbal loose. And if I’m gonna use something everyday for vlogging and BTS. I need it to be rugged and ready to run and gun. Its simplicity has made me create more!

Well, like I said , you can’t beat the 5 Pro in terms of ruggedness and simplicity. You’ve made a great choice!

You won’t get jitter footage on Action 5 at night, IF you ramp up shutter and ISO. Specifically, these settings: 4K 30, EIS at Rocksteady (not +), Shutter 1/100-1/8000 (this is very important, you can also use quadruple your frame rate to 30FPS at 1/120, 60 at 1/240, etc., Texture at -2, Noise Reduction at -1 or -2. In night mode, you can’t adjust ISO. In normal, all these settings apply but make sure ISO is 100-25000. The action 5 will get almost ZERO jitter with these settings.

This is true. I tested on my Action 5 and I did same thing. In my case I shoot at 4K 25fps and speed shutter at 1/100. Let ISO go up as it want. Even I have a lot of noise but it's better than having jitter.

Yes!!! I’m going to get the action 5. I love my pocket 3, but I’m gonna get the A5 pro for the simplicity, durability and compactness. I think they make a great combo! I’ve watched so many videos and almost all very positive on Action 5.

I´m looking forward to get the Action 5. Sold the Insta360 GO3 because it was not easy to colorgrade togetether with my OP3. Both cams have DLOG-M now and can be colorgraded the same way :)

I don't understand these comparisons between the Pocket 3 and Action 5. They're two completely different cameras. One is a typical vlogging camera, while the other is a beast for tough conditions. I own both, and the image quality that comes out of the Pocket 3, with its depth, is on a whole different level. But for flying, I can’t imagine taking the Pocket, though it has happened. Nowadays, I feel like people are losing the concept of a sports camera more and more.

Hey everyone, I’m Ajith from India, and I’m planning to buy the DJI Pocket 3 for travel vlogging and casual filmmaking. Should I buy it now, or wait for the Pocket 4? Are there any rumors about its release or upgrades? Any advice would be appreciated!

I think the Pocket 3 has better dynamic range and is overall the best camera 👍🏻 But action shots though the A5 is better 🤣

I got both! When the pocket 3 came out…I wanted to get the action 4 but I already had GoPro hero 10 and action 2. When they announced the action 5, I just had to get one for better low light capabilities 😂

Is the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro good enough in low light to replace the DJI Osmo Pocket 3?

I believe it is. However, the pocket is the best option for that..

Osmo Action 5 Pro must be held upright when filming so that the image does not come out crooked. With Osmo Pocket 3, it doesn't matter how it is held, because it will shoot straight, having mechanical stabilization. Another great advantage of Pocket 3. The biggest disadvantage of Pocket 3 is its fragility, I don't know how long the gimbal will last (the upper part that is mobile), because with a simple accidental touch it already moves.
