Just a little tip. If you are going to video record in low light with the Air 3S, then you should use 4K @ 30 fps and not 60 fps. The video footages will look even better with 30 fps in low light situations.

You should do more talk, vlog and fly videos because its great to see your thought process when the drone is in the air and how you pick your shots.

I really like your unbiased videos... keep up the good work. A little correction: you were not using 14 dynamic range stops... 14 stops are only usable when shooting video only in auto mode, and not for vertical or slow-motion videos on any mode. I know it's a bit of a bummer, since using pro settings actually gives better results. So, 14 stops will be used only to those that don't really want to use manual setting for better results. It's on dji air 3s faq page, on camera section (comparison with air 3). Also, a suggestion. Motors of air 3 and air 3s are the same. Some people reported problems with their motors after couple of months of flying. All of them were actually hand catching the drone and flip it over to stop propellers. This is a fail safe mechanism to stop the motors when for some reason the drone is falling from the sky without control ,so it won't hurt anyone with the rotating propellers. It is a very nice practice we used in smaller drones, like the mini series drone. However, the motors are going full speed for a bit when you flip it over, and there are speculations that with that high powered motors this is not good for their life span. It's not that you are doing it wrong, just saying what i heard... for that i usually hand catch the drone without flipping it, just throttle down the stick to stop it on my hand. On the minis, this is not a problem, but "with higher power, comes great responsibility" :) Looking forward for your unbiased footage comparison with air 3, since most videos online are completely biased cause most of them got the drone for free from dji sponsor...

You are following the path of many drone pilots, but in the opposite direction. So many of us are Cinematic / Camera Drone buffs, and have started to stick their big toe into FPV Flying since the Avata / Avata 2 have arrived (plus a group that flew the original DJI FPV, a BEAST of a 2.5 lb. monster Hybrid FPV Aircraft. I know you were into cinematic drones, before, but your KZbin footprint has you making a splash learning and advancing FPV part of the sport/hobby. It's not important how we get to where we are happy, it all works!

I am already an experienced colourist and editor, also a photographer who gets paid from time to time, if anyone is reading,: this man, John sincerely knows what he is talking about. I am more interested in the actual tutorial for shooting footage. However John has taught this old dog some new tricks. I have full confidence that my money has been well spent - if I change my mind I will be back.

Really really cool video, thank you. Very informative, genuinely enjoyable. I have the Air 3s as my first ever drone, and I am a photographer. It is set up, I have yet to fly it. There are few videos that tune into the reality of what to do, without being a tutorial. A companion to the one or two other youtube videos that are equally great, but demonstrate different aspects. Tracking, obstacle avoidance and so on, that you touch on but keep in perspective. Liked and subscribed, very happy that I have found your channel.

FYI, the DJI page states that -> 14 stops of dynamic range are achievable for video on Auto mode but not for vertical or slow-motion video. I don't like the fact that manual mode doesn't get you that and makes me think that those Dynamic range stops are achieved some how in the processing but not natively. Still looks amazing but I'm a little disappointed of that :/

Great point. A couple have mentioned this. There was definitely some fancy processing going on the Air 3 as well. I might make a video on this and test it out in auto vs manual mode.

bought the air 3 due to your excellent review.... don't need the camera upgrade (home use) but hope they update the 3 to the 3s tracking, RTH and pano features would be nice.I remember seeing 720p tv..... thinking how much better can it get??

In my opinion, if you already have air 3, there are not much improvements there to justify the hassle to sell it and buy the air 3s. You already have excellent quality, and if you want even more you can achieve what air 3s offers in low light with some post processing. I don't think that we will see RTH in air 3, since it actually uses LiDAR which air 3 don't have... i barely use RTH though... barely used it on any of my drones. About the free pano, air 3 should get it since it's software based feature, but let's wait and see if they actually pass it on to air 3, or try to have it as a selling point of air 3s.

I primarily use Davinci Resolve. You can search my channel color grading and find several videos where I show how I do it. Also dropping some premiere tutorial in the next month or so.

Either will work well! Air 3S will definitely have a bit higher quality footage and be more flexible, but the mini 4 pro will be a lot quieter which is a plus for shooting weddings!

I know that you are just derping around ... but wouldn't it be better to have as many parameters in auto and then fiddle with 1 or 2 parameters only ? eg: EV settings and MAYBE the ISO... I noticed that you at one point had a high ISO but minus 2 or 3 EV - which is a bit counter productive.

I just don’t see the point of the air 3 or 3s. The Mavic 3 classic is nearly the same price Yes you give up the 3x it’s not the same sharpness as the classic using the m4/3 sensor I can still zoom in 3x and even with the crop it’s a still a bigger available sensor. I think your editing is excellent

Bitrate sucks, 75mbps in 60fps DLOG-M ???? Is a joke? Bitrate minimal for quality = FPS x 2000 in H265...so need to be at least 120mbps... You can easy spot the fine details killed by new compression....and that can be if you are not paid by DJI, of course.
