Holy mackerel that was an absolutely mind-blowing demonstration of drone autonomy. This ability of the Air 3S drone to evaluate multiple flight paths back to base, and then determine on the fly the safest optimal trajectory that will get the drone back to its point of initial departure, represents a quantum leap in drone technology. Nobody will ever catch up with DJI's level of drone automation and versatility. The drone war is over and DJI won hands down. Wow! Wow! Wow!

This was incredible!! I remember the olden days where it would fly a direct route to the GPS coordinate at the preset RTH altitude and land straight down, making take-off at or around buildings challenging. Wow! Will this be upgraded on the Mavic 3 to this level? Never thought to try this

That was impressive.. Now do it again with windy conditions.. Let's see how it balances itself from resisting wind force heading into 0 wind right after passing the balcony's wall without crashing. As the case most of the time with high raised buildings it would probably be too windy and risky for a safe return to home even manually, speaking from experience.

YOU GOT ANXIETY?!!!!!! Soon as that drone cleared the balcony and made that first banked turn behind the high-rise I was shaking my head like damn I really hoped that RC signal was really strong. I have a Mini 4 Pro and I am still relatively new to piloting Drones. I know what the manual says, but I am not at the level where I can fly my drone like in this video. I can only fly a few hundred yards! I'm not into flying miles yet. 🤦🏾🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♂️ This was awesome example of what the Air 3S is capable of.

So, this is funny I am seeing this video. I tried something similar a couple of weeks ago, at a farm 🚜. This farm is known for their Fall and Halloween festivities. I was there with my family, along with the other hundreds people walking around, eating, petting the animals, going on the tall slides, hayrides, and walking through the corn 🌽 mazes. I was sitting in this pavilion with several picnic tables. I had been taking pictures with my camera 📷, so i decided to swap it for my Mini 4 Pro. I set it up on table that I was at and launched it from there. I should note, that upon my initial take off I had to fly it from underneath the pavilion. Once I cleared the pavilion I sent her up and out for an aerial of the farm. After a few minutes I decided to RTH and this is where it started to freak me out a little. As the drone got back to the pavilion, it hovering over the roof. In relation to where the table was that it took off from. I totally got a little scared that it was going to self-land on the roof. So, I canceled RTH and brought her for a landing myself. I just couldn't bring myself to see if it would've done it on its own. However, I wasn't worried that I couldn't get my drone back if it did land on the roof, one of the farmhands would've gotten it down for me. Crazy things is, I'm looking to add the Air 3S to my tool set. 😮

Unless DJI can clearly demonstrate that this is totally a function of onboard firmware this could be a big nail in the coffin for DJI relative to the bill working it's way through US Congress. That said, this is a very cool capability. The screen appeared to show no GPS involvement.

Air 3s uses lydar technology to detect home point when satellites are not available..

@@buildingjmpr67 yes but when it leaves the building it has 0 sats and the LIDAR is pointing forward into a whole lot of empty space. If it can map its position at that point from all the surrounding buildings (which are not close) accurately enough to return like that the price tag is an absolute bargain. These mapping companies will be binning their kit and getting 3s instead. I smell foul play but I await all your videos doing the same thing but with the controller in shot.
