I added the same battery guard to mine. I bumped the ground once and had one pop out. I found it easily enough, but I have had other minor crashes where I used the beeping to find it, and you don't want to lose a battery when it's in the bushes. Great video!
@LensCaptureOnline Жыл бұрын
Losing a battery in midair is catastrophic, but losing it after a catch definitely slows down recovery or worse. This battery guard gives me piece of mind. It is also why my Avata is skinned in bright yellow. Much easier to find if it goes down. Thanks for taking the time to watch Jeff!

Thanks very much for your well-organized video. Very well done review. Guess I'll have to both of those things. By the way forget about the protection. Your Avata just LOOKS great! Question - do your accessories make it more difficult to fit in your case?
@LensCaptureOnline11 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words. I had no issue with fitting the modified Avata into the original case, which I still use to house my drone.

@@LensCaptureOnline Wow, great disappointment - just got my StartRC Gimball bumper - and it is TERRRRRRIBLE !!! Sticks WAY out to the front of the Avata, so that it obstructs > 1/8 of the view on each side of the camera, together obstructing > 1/4 of the field of view. Doesn't matter if you adjust normal, wide, or ultra views. Doesn't matter if 4:3 or 16:9. This thing is awful. Not your fault of course - looks like they clearly have two different versions of this thing. Got mine at Amazon through your link. and it sticks out 3/4" infront of the drone frame - your version seems to stick out only 1/4" or so. Just thought I'd mention it for others . My review and photos in Amazon at that link under my name "Bugman" -- but my experience is that often Amazon will not allow my uncomplimentary reviews - they'll probably not publish it. side image here ibb.co/0r84zf9

Hi Tom, great video. I have that same battery holder & love it. Bought it for the exact same reason. I was looking into a gimble protector just yesterday, happy I came across this video. Please remember to let me know when you'll be visiting NY again. Would love flying with you. You are the reason I ended up buying my Avata faster than I thought I would lolol
@LensCaptureOnline Жыл бұрын
Hi Deneen! The battery holder works nicely and the gimbal bumper has not caused any problems with flight time or video capture. Hope I will not actually get to test them in a crash! LOL The weather did not cooperate on my visit last week to NYC. UGH! We'll be back in late June in Upstate NY, not far from Hunter Mountain. Hopefully we can get together then with Eddie, Anthony and Stevy up there. Remember, if you're looking for some real adventures, DM me and head this way! 😁 Lovin' my Avata!

@@LensCaptureOnline I ordered the gimble bumper from your link, should arrive Monday. I have crashed to the point of my battery ejecting but learning from other videos, I bought that a few days after receiving my Avata. If I'm not away, I'll definitely meet you fellas up there and yes, hopefully I can also head your way in the near future.

Thx, Tom, i just ordered both items; these two items appear to have minimal effect on flying; you can never have too much protection.

I just ordered the battery retaining strap through your affiliate link. I needed the camera cage two months ago before I scratched the crap out of my lens but I think I might still order it. The battery strap is a must. DJI should be sending us those for free because the system they designed sucks and will just lead to a lost quad.
@LensCaptureOnline Жыл бұрын
The battery is a pretty tight fit when installed. So I was originally puzzled by others complaining about the battery ejecting. Of course, that changed quickly when it happened to me. DJI should definitely designed a much better positive latching system for this drone.

Hello brother, thank you very much for your video but I have a question. I put all those accessories on my avatar and the longest it has lasted was 12 minutes. Is that correct? Just in normal mode without moving the drone.
@LensCaptureOnline Жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I'm getting 13-14 minutes consistently with usually 20% battery remaining. Of course, in high winds, this is dramatically shorter.

Western New York here! Great video. Question: what’s that gimbal cage made of? 16 grams seems real heavy for aluminum. I have one on my potato that’s 100% saved my camera.
@LensCaptureOnline Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. It appears to be and is advertised as an aluminum alloy. It is pretty solid and definitely confident it will keep the gimbal and camera safer. Luckily, the Avata lens can accommodate filters so I always have one on. That should protect it from any surface scratching.

Thanks! Out here in the southwest, I'm always flying with ND filters. During midday sun I use the ND32 and sometimes the ND64.
